I would compare them to the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Braves, St Louis Blues, Phil Mickelson, and other such sports teams or athletes. They will never win a title, the closest they will get to a championship is the US Open Cup, but never will win the MLS Cup. Sorry Galaxy fans, but every sport needs a team like you.

As much as I hate the Galaxy, you may just be eating your words by the end of the season. LA is in great form and their on a roll. IMHO I think they will win the USOC and MLS Cup.... GOD, you don't know how it pains me to write that... :)

Yea the Galaxy is hitting stride at the right time this year for once, not to mention they are opening a new stadium which is hosting next years title game. But it could be worse they could be the worst team in the leauge every year...

Dude the galaxy are good and are hitting their stride. Also for your info, the Braves did win one world series, so they are not always second.

I don't know if we're going to win MLS Cup this year, or even the Open Cup. But, in current form, I GUARANTEE we'd be battling for a Euro spot in the EPL this season!

they won the concacaf cup and were going to go to the world club cup before it was cancelled. they won the US open cup. they won the supporters shieled in '98 with the best MLS record ever.

I'd say only DC United has a more impressive history.

What? The Braves? Yeah, they only won 1 out of 4 WS titles, but two of three WS losses were to the Yankees, and you can't really fault a team for losing a WS to the Yankee$. The D-backs were the only team to prevent them from doing it in 6 years in which the Yankees won 4 titles.

If you are gonna make a baseball reference, compare them to the Bo-Sox or the Cubbies, but the main flaw with the Braves comparison is that the Braves have won it all, the Galaxy hasn't, and never will. :)

Re: Re: The Galaxy compared to other sports teams.

if you understood my post, you would realize that these teams/players are known for choking in the "big game". Yea, Braves won one, but how many years did they have an awesome record only to be knocked out of the playoffs.

OK I want to know this, why is a Revs fan posting this?

A delusional DCU fan living in the past, fine.

    A Fire fan, fine.

Wiz fan, well ok, I guess but your day in the sun has come and gone.

Clash fans OK, because yes, you did beat us for MLS Cup last year. Fine.

But a Revs fan? Huh? What is it like to have MLS in your own back yard three times and not had a chance in hell of getting there?

    mmm....

    1998 Supporters Shield Winners
    2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup Winners
    2001 US Open Cup Winners

Not that bad really. Yeah, we haven't come away with the MLS Cup when we should have, but that's why we play these games. But to say we chokers (yeah, like a SmurfQuake fan can say anything right now) is a bit off.

To quote the big guy himself....

You must be high, League help!!!!, The same league that has dismantaled this team twice!!!!!!!!. It is inspite of the league that we have been this succesful. There are two reasons we have had such a good record. 1-Our core of players is very good and dont have the revolving door. 2 qualitiy choaching. Quality players which have been taken from us, Mathis, Beasley, armas, Razov, Mayer, Franchino, Pena, Campos, Welington Sanchez, Welton, Jolley, hernandez. Most of which are starters in their new teams. Plus 2 failed mexicans, hermosillo, and hernandez. so yeah great league help, i would rather they not help us.

Didn't you trade away half of those players? You and the league wanted LH, so don't blame them for giving away Mathis and Jolley for him which IIRC is what came out of it. And didn't you trade away Beasley?

Sigi had a chance to make some serious trade offers to clear roster and cap room for Hernandez, but he didn't because he knew the league was hot to sign a Mexican marquee player, and that Luis Hernandez refused to play anywhere but Los Angeles. So Sigi made a few half-assed offers which nobody took. What he didn't anticipate is MLS standing its ground and insisting that they clear space, and helping them by creating the dispersal draft.

Sigi's avarice caused this, so drop the "poor us" routine...

I think the smog is going to your head. I don't know how you can say that with any seriousness.

Back when the league doled out marquee players under the allocation process, L.A. leaped to the front of the line to get Hermosillo, Hernandez and a few others... They got these players despite other teams being on the marquee waiting list for longer than L.A. had been. And when the league scrapped the allocation process at the beginning of this season, teams that were owed marquee players were forced to accept draft picks instead. The very fact that L.A. was allowed to fill their open allocations while other teams waited upwards of two years to get players, and in some cases had to forfeit them, smacks of preferential treatment.

Plus, I know people in the league office who've told me flat out that MLS is hoping the Galaxy would win a championship because of the market revenue implications. And a lot of people believe the league has bent over backwards to help them.

We should've known this would have turned into a "how much has the league helped the Galaxy v. other teams" thread.

Long live the Bills and Kevin Hartman...err...Scott Norwood!!

You name the two mexicans who were the reason for the dismanteling. You make it seem that with the leagues help we have been succesful. The truth lies somewhere in between. Yes we got 2 mexican alocations, what did that get us? both of them involved in the finals and we lost them both. While other teams had the pick of who THEY wanted not who is being forced on them. And again we are on the verge of a third time of dispersals. If you dont know they are looking for a korean player. While others have been able to build the team they wanted we have had to survive Giant stars crashing into the Galaxy and we are left with the aftermath. Yes i see that leagues interfierence but not its help.
