Thanx buddy... How is the TCM series...
I have never played it before. I'm a fan of CM but was looking to try something new! Does anyone know if TCM 2004 will include the MLS league??
that is the reason why i will not buy the new CM.

For some reason TCM 2003 won't work on my computer. I can do the business aspects of the game, but on matchday, when the match engine loads, the game suddenly exits and returns me to Windows.

TCM 2004 doesn't have the MLS league. The only SMG I know of that at this time has the MLS is Sick as a Parrot ( http:\\www.machoward.com\ ).

I programmed an MLS oriented one, but it wasn't very good so I scrapped it and am now programming one based around the EPL. Maybe for version 1.0.1 I'll add the MLS.

this makes NO sense to me. tcm is an EA game, EA makes the Fifa series, Fifa has MLS unless something has changed.

maybe ea only holds the mls license in North America???

no Brazilian league either by the way.

Yes, but have you any idea how much of a b**** all of the MLS transfer rules and regulations are to program into your soccer management game? And since TCM is not being sold in North America, why would they want to spend that extra time when they could be programming something as useless to the game as Girl's Boarding Schools?

CM4 did fine with MLS.... why couldn't EA do the same?

Actually, CM didn't. They actually fixed MLS so it was more European-styled than the actual MLS. It's like the Man U games, they sold out every one of those, but Paul Gardner called them 'Eurosnobs', not wanting anything to do with MLS. EA doesn't want to spend their 'precious' time programming this.

That's it, I'm adding MLS to version 1.0.1 of Statto Soccer Manager (screenshots up http://www.stattosoftware.com/). And it's free.

you can get more info here:

    http://www.totalclubmanager.com

I pre-ordered it and actually am pretty excited about it. I have TCM 2003 and it was good. Also have CM4. TCM 2003 used the FIFA 2002 engine and so some of the tactics didn't really translate too well on the 3D match engine.

TCM 2004, on the other hand, is being developed alongside with FIFA 2004 and so, hopefully, will be more intuitive. As far as the MLS goes, I was a bit surprised that it's not on TCM since it will be on FIFA 2004.

I'm pretty sure that somebody will make a patch for it as they did on TCM 2003. And so no worries.

There's that 'football fusion', maybe that works both ways?

Having programmed the MLS into SaaP (Sick as a Parrot) I can confirm that it is a complete pain in the backside. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is different - the league structure is different, the playoffs different, the player contracts different, the financial structure of the clubs different, trading players is different, the drafts are almost unique. It's a complete game in itself.

Introducing it into the game is just the start because then all developments in the game need checking out twice over to ensure that they work correctly in the typical European/Sth American leagues and the MLS. And, as I have found to my dismay (having spent so much time introducing it), there's very little interest in it - many American soccer fans are more interested in European soccer than they are in the MLS.

I also understand that it's now been dropped from CM 03/04.

even when it is not included, you can download the patches from people on the TCM forums that are top notch. Basically any league that is not included will be done shortly after the release. They have a lot of people doing updates. I did an MLS/Aleague patch for TCM03, had promotion/relegation and it was run just like a european league. It was fun to make and interesting to see how things worked out in regards to whome would go up and down each year. 2004 looks like a great game, can't wait for a few more weeks.

It'll only be on XBox in Europe which you can't play on your US XBox. My suggestion is import it on PC. Besides the PC version is updatable.

Is the MLS in the European version of FIFA 2004? As u know in the US, MLS players have been on the FIFA cover however, in US NT kits.

I figured programming the MLS rules was a pain in the arse. But SI did get it right on the 2nd or 3rd try. I mean, do MLS club even have transfer budgets?!?

I believe the MLS is in the European version of FIFA 2004 since it shows the MLS logo in the FIFA UK site. Not sure how the MLS rules apply in the career mode though.

TCM 2004 however does not contain the MLS. We'll have to wait for the patch.

I have a mod chip so no worries there. The only bad thing is the cost of shipping will be a bitch.

As for the Fifa covers. Landon Donavan was on the 2003 cover in his USMNT jersey following the success of the US in WC2002. HOWEVER, Edgar Davids, Ryan Giggs, and Ronaldo were on the cover in Europe. Nobody in Europe has a copy of Fifa 2003 with Landon Donavan on the cover. 2004 has Thiery Henry, Ronaldhino, and Del Piero if I am not mistaken.

    Re: Re: TCM 2004 question...

You're right about Henry, Del Piero, and Ronaldhino. The US version, I believe, for the first time will have the same cover as the European version since that is what I am seeing in sites like Amazon, Best Buy, and EB Games.

I guess the MLS will be left out either because of the league difficulty or the idea that European-based TCM players have little to no interest in managing an MLS team
