Might seem kind of silly, but I'll be watching. I only started watching Survivor in Season 4, so even though I know the winners, it'll be interesting to see some of the early episodes in each season, and to see how some of the strategies evolved across seasons. Season 1 is of particular interest to me since the people must have been making things up as they went along, having not seen it before.

i started with season two, and i'd like to see season 1 .... but I'm not sure if I even get OLN. is it on basic cable or digital cable? I'll have to go check my local listings.

i started with season two as well. i absolutely love the show, but am not sure if i would watch replays of the old seasons. you'd be amazed at how many times survivor comes up in my psychology and group dynamics courses

Mine is on basic cable, but it's probably obscure enough where it might be on dig cable in some areas. It's smart of them to start right after the Tour de France. That's easily their highest-rated programming all year, and I'm sure OLN will advertise this pretty heavily.

Season one was the greatest, there will never be another first time.

No but really, the first season will never be matched. No one had any idea of the nature of the game, and it was the first big reality show (and it was a competition, unlike the Real World). And there were so many memorable moments and characters. Great memories.

Sadly, I think my only memory is pixellation.

I agree though, that first season had something the others didn't. People didn't know what to expect. After that, people know about the alliances and all, so something was lost.

the first season was memorable for the hype that surrounded it, the national phenom thing it had going. absolutley.

but taking the season and the players out of that context .... how good was it? did it stack up to some of the other better seasons? can you take them out of that context, since that national phenom thing added to the fun?

but there've been great characters and great memories in all of 'em. :)

The characters were probably the best ever. Remember, people weren't used to being filmed and stuff back then.

I, also, started watching the 2nd season and have seen them all. When I was in Korea for the World Cup, Armed Forces Network was showing the origional season--I was up late many nights watching it. It was very good, I enjoyed it a lot even knowing who had won.

I started watching the first season, having never seen it before and here's two thoughts:

    1. DAMN! Those guys were spoiled. they had freakin' peroxide to clean their boo-boos! For god sakes, I kept looking for the kitchen sink on that raft. Of course, it's understandable .... the producers had no idea what the people could/could not handle. But, DAMN!
    2. On the first vote it was interesting that the only person who didn't vote with a bloc was Richard, the king of the alliance himself.

I was intrigued by the lack of production for lack of a better word. The later seasons all seem to have more glitz or something.

It was interesting to see how quickly alliances formed though.

That first episode definetely had something the other ones didn't. People were like "what are we doing" etc. Now, everyone knows what to do, there's a lot of "been there, done that" stuff, but still new challenges, etc.

I've certainly enjoyed the lack of slick production so far and seeing how everybody is sort of clueless over what to do.

As an aside, the Game Show Network is also showing reruns of The Amazing Race every evening at 9 pm and 12 midnight Eastern. Unbeknownst to me, they started up in early July and are now three shows into (I think) the second season. Talk about a game people have learned to play better.

Yes, just like the Amazing Race's first season, they didn't have as much music or dramatic editing.

So I've gotten up to the merger episode now, and a couple of things really surprised me.

    - Who were all these sheep ...er, people who felt that alliances were unfair and immoral? Talk about idiotic. Just pick the one you felt was deserving to go?! How quaint. So an alliance of 4 had complete control over a tribe of 10. I guess they really were making things up as they went along. I've heard the term "Pagonged" so much over the years, I assumed Pagong went into the merge at a numerical disadvantage. But no, they were even. Just stupid.

    - Most everybody seemed to like "loveable" Richard at this point. I guess that had to change inevitably as the alliance was forced to eat its own, but it's still funny to see.

I agree ... those people are SOOOOOO stupid. They talked about forming an alliance, and three of the pagongs still voted off for Jenna (in the ep. where Greg got voted off).

they have absolutely no clean. Even Dr. Sean and Bible Dirk ... they were talking a while back about how it's one of them, and they each vote for another person. Perhaps I have the advantage of hindsight ... but why wouldn't people form an alliance. Be noble back at your $8 an hour job. Do what it takes to win a million dollars.

also, having watched this ... why was Jenna on all-stars and not greg? he was awesome. I assume Jenna was on because she did the MTV thing and had celebrity, as opposed to being a good player. Greg thought alliances were stupid, too ... but at least he was leading and trying to play the game (somewhat). plus he was funny. I liked him.

I don't know if he got offered, but I don't think he wanted to do it again.

Or Kelly, for that matter.... it seems to me the only reason Rich won (aside from the fact that Kelly should've taken Rudy to the final 2) was that he handled the final TC better. (Can you imagine how Rudy would've "performed" in the final TC? "I don't know." :)). Anyway, Kelly should've really played up the fact that she won 5 straight challenges AND never got a single vote cast against her, but instead she tried to curry favor with the Pagongs by saying how "bad" she felt about being in the alliance. In the end, it sort of seemed like Sean voted for Rich just because he really liked the "Fat Gay F a g" joke, whatever that was all about. In the immortal words of Sue Hawk, what a doof.

Can't imagine it has the naive charm of the first one but still looking forward to seeing Season 2. Oh .... when did they figure out to have Probst host the reunion show instead of a babbling idiot like Bryant Gumbel.
