Well, I remember serving my non-Portuguese friends with Sumol and always having them say it's a great-drink, but could Sumol be making a break-through in North America? At my Shop Rite (don't know if they have this in Canada) they're now offering Sumol for sale for the first time. Maybe there's some money to be made here.
aveirenses...you guys are way behind there in the states buddy...we have sumol selling everywhere...convenience stores-owned and not owned by Portuguese people...grocery store chains like No Frills...its not a rarity to see a Sumol truck here in Toronto delivering cans and bottles to stores. I forget what the slogan is on the back of the truck...I think O sabor de Portugal or something...thanks to Ferma imports (you know...the guys at Dufferin and Davenport/Dupont with those Sumol and Pedras Salgadas cardboard cut-outs), Toronto has seen the spoils of many Portuguese products...which is fantastic.
all money going to my friend Seabra incoporation. Seabra's own's the Mediterranean Rest, Campino Rest, Seabra rodizio, Seabra in Perth Amboy, they own a bakery, fish markets, food stores A&J Seabras, Spt television or the rights from sport tv, etc etc.
Well, I think, now I'm going on a limb here, that it's a LOT harder to market in the USA, especially when in New Jersey there's not any really big cities, there's Newark and that's about it. Maybe add Princeton and Trenton which aren't very Portuguese populated.
Sumol is definitely the best soft drink around. Then there's those imitators, Frisumo and Frutol which taste like garbage. Hi, my name is Ruben and I'm a Sumolico.
Riverside around the Trenton area got more portuguese then South River, portuguese also south on Long Branch, Red Bank we are all over the state.

what's going on there frank? too much vinho do porto? remember, this is a sumol thread...put down the porto, pick up the ananas sumol
don't forget Laranjada....very good orange pop, but hard to come by.....and Kima is good to....the maracuja flavour used to have seeds in the bottle (if my mind serves my right), don't think they do anymore
My local Super Stop & Shop's, Shaw's, and Shop Rite supermarkets have been carrying Portuguese items for a while now, including Sumol, Portuguese Olive Oil, and a bunch of other items. They have there own little section in those stores.
If you guys like kima/sumol maracuja, and never got a chance to taste the actual fruit.....MY GOD! you guys dont know what your missing...its amazing. everytime the portuguese store has some, i buy right away
A portuguese Olive Oil was considered the best in the world. I don´t have the link, I hope that someone can get it. Anyway I only use Portuguese olive oil (the best). Do you use olive oil in the USA and Canada?
Sumol is all over Massachusets ,Portuguese stores and American ,along with Laranjada ..... The other big product in American stores is our High Quality Olive Oil....
Yes we have Portuguese Olive oil all over the US ,most popular brands are "saloio" and "Andorinha"... We have Atum Bom Petisco ,or if your really want good Tuna ,than the one from the Azores is the best in my opinion"Corretora "or the one from Sao Jorge ,with the tomato paste.... Fall River is the center of all Portuguese products for the state of Mass and Ri. I even get Salsichas ,altough their illegal ,because its a meat product ,but i got my connections.......Salsichas Nobre rule.....With all this im getting hungry.....
You can get Sumol anywhere in New Bedford. There's tons of cafes here that sell that stuff and at the markets too. There's Portuguese markets, bakerys, banks, etc. all over the city where you can get virtually anything Portuguese.
Yup, I love my Sumol. I make sure that everytime I go to our Sporting filial, I get about a half dozen of them. Even our local grocery stores, mostly Italian based in the TO suburbs, carry Sumol. Luckily enough, we're going grocery shopping later this afternoon
