Didn't stop us this year, won't stop us in the future.

Though, Curt Schilling alone might have made a little more sense.

Woo hoo! First Babe, now SI!! Woo freakin' hoo!

Can't blame them. What other team has a star player who is willing to tip his hat and call his biggest rival his daddy?

There was no Babe curse, there is no SI curse. The curse of Bad Management is over.

It should have gone to Pat Tillman.

Come on...most of the rest of America gave you guys polite applause for breaking the curse...but if that championship wasn't the definition of doing it as a team, I'm not sure what is.

If that sanctimonious prick Schilling had won the award, lots of people would've puked. "Schilling's foot is hurt!"...(later)..."Look at his ankle bleeding!"...(later)..."Oh, my God, Schilling's leg just fell off!"...(later)..."Let's go to Kevin Kennedy downstairs, with the gravely injured Curt Schilling, who's amazingly available for all TV interviews".

The award is given to someone who played in the calendar year in which the award is given. Tillman hadn't played in almost three years. While what he did and gave up is certainly worthy of mention and accolade, this is the wrong award.

Yeah and it's also called Sportsman of the Year, not Sportsmen or Male Horse of the year. (Eventhough Secretariat kicked ass) It's their award, so SI can give it to whomever they want. Despite blowing it this year.

I probably would've voted for Tom Brady, although the Patriots have the same "team-dynamic" thing going for them that the Sox did.

So you're saying you'd take away the award from the 1980 US Men's Hockey Team?

Pat Tillman is great and all but I'm starting to get sick of hearing his name. You know he isn't the only one who died in the war. I'm sure he's upset in heaven to see how much more recognition he gets then his other brothers who fought just as hard. Just like the Red Sox, Patriots, Pistons, DC United, and Tampa Bay Lightning, the team is celebrated, not an individual player. The same should be with the war (well not celebated, but it shouldn't be focused on one soldier, no matter what he's done prior).

I agree with the award though. The Red Sox proved that teamwork can overcome everything. Without Millar's walk and Dave Roberts steal, we wouldn't be talking about this. Yankees should take a look at some DVDs of their team in the 90's. Take notes as well. Maybe then they can start to be able to compete with the Sox.
