I just visited the "Goal of the Year" voting page. I was astonished that there were 30 choices. Usually it's only 5 or 8 or maybe 10. But there were 30 choices.

But not a single one was a Wizards goal.

The Wizards had the third highest goal total in the league, but none of the 48 strikes were judged to have been in the top 30 in the league this season.

With all fairness, I can't think of more than a couple Wizards goals that even deserved to be in that group. Either of Igor's 30yd bombs, and maybe a few others

Dallas had three, all of which should be in the running (O'brien's was a cracker).

I'm not sure it's that we were over looked as we didn't have any amazing goals. Several on the bubble perhaps, but when Preki slots you the perfect ball, you don't have to make it look good, or make a hard shot.

If you go to the multimedia page, you can just select the wizards and get all the goals from the season. I'm on a 28.8 so I'm gong by memory here, but what goals did they miss for GoY?

Both of Igor's blasts in the Dallas rout. And Armstrong's later that game deserve to be candidates.

Arnaud's left footed blast over Howard early in our first game at home vs. Metros was worthy if some of those others were. I agree that Armstrongs clean volley was worthy as well.
Having said that it really doesnt matter because its a two dog race between Wolienek (sp?) and Ruiz.

I thought the Noonan goal was pretty sweet against the Metros in their 1st playoff game. There was a sweet heel flick pass and he was running away from goal and still put it in the back of the net. Agree that Simo's goals and Armstrongs goal against dallas have probably been our tops this year and should have been considered.
