29 is prime time for a striker - if he can stay healthy, I would imagine he could have his best season ever. He certainly has a tremendous supporting cast - he only lacks someone to whip in a few crosses from time to time...

Yep, here's to another 46 goal campaign!

Ruud's birthday = Patrick Kluivert's birthday, same date, same year, btw.

Yep, amazing that one had so much success early in his career, while the other is finding more success as he gets older.

Also amazing how terrible they look playing together for Holland...

Their styles are too similar. A bit like what I think will happen if Brazil try to play Ronaldo and Adriano upfront at the next WC.

except you know.. the whole, Ronaldo being the best scorer of his generation and Adriano being like a tank sprayed w/ cooking spray (never goes down and defenders just slip, slide and bounce off him).

Yeah, that may be a small thing in their favour.

    :)

I think you agree though, it's a pity they're so similar. Their reputations and ability will no doubt lead to them both playing, although IMO they should play with Robinho and one of them (actually I'd pick Adriano, he's amazing and is much more committed and active on the pitch than 'the great mass')

id hate to turn this into a brazil thread, but i think Adriano's over reliance on his left foot will hurt Brazil in the WC if they start him as their only pure striker.

Ronaldo's willingness and effectiveness with both feet from just about anywhere within 25ish yards is what makes him the best choice for me... he allows Robinho and Ronaldinho to play anywhere, wheras w/ Adriano, they have to be concious to play the ball and move in a way that allows adriano to shoot with his left.

    Yeah. Well... happy Birthday Ruud!!

Lol, there's an add at the top of the page for a Green Card lottery and it says "your country is eligible". I read "your country is illegible"! I sat here thinking for like a full minute "Kenya isn't that hard to read..."

Maybe because it's that time of night but I thought this was hilarious :) . Thanks for sharing.

This time of night means it's also too late for me to wish him a happy birthday in the UK, or Portugal for that matter  so belated happy birtday to you, Ruud, I'm sure he won't be too pissed, it's not like he's gonna read it anyway.
