I really dont think owen will leave liverpool to be honest. I think liverpool with finish 4th this season and therefore get into the champions league !

He won't go to Chelsea..too many strikers there and Liverpool won't sell him to their EPL enemy.

The quotes in question are from an interview he did with Shoot! magazine. Most are drawn from comments he made after the Croatia match in August. The tabs have just chosen to dress it up as though it's a saga. After all - the only real news concerning Liverpool today is that Steven Gerrard has committed himself to the club for another four years ... and we couldn't have an unadulteratedly positive story about those bloody Scousers getting out, now could we?

 

Paranoia about media/FA bias is strictly the preserve of us Arsenal fans. I'll thank you to remember that!

Firstly, the quotes attributed to Michael that have appeared today are actually contained in the latest issue of Shoot Monthly. Magazines, unlike the internet, have to be written and designed before being printed and then distributed around the world and that means the quotes you read haven't been uttered in the last month nevermind the last few days.

In fact, I can reveal that the article was made up of quotes from Michael when he spoke after playing for England against Croatia on August 20 and Liechtenstein on September 10.

The fact that the magazine has just come out now and been picked up by the media on the same day that Steven Gerrard has committed his long-term future to the club is a pure coincidence.

Secondly, the 'interview' with Michael couldn't actually be more positive about his future at Anfield. From speaking to the magazine's editor, Colin Mitchell, this morning, I can reveal that he's very upset that a feature about how Michael's game has developed - the majority of the magazine article actually concentrates on how the player has improved his heading skills - has been turned into something it's not. Colin told me: "We're unhappy about this situation because the publication in question have taken our very positive piece and run it totally out of context to create a headline. Michael suggested nothing to us but happiness and a desire to move Liverpool forward and up the league."

The striker has recently moved into his dream house on the Wales-England border - a house that Michael has ploughed much money and time into making absolutely perfect for his girlfriend and daughter - and as the magazine article states, 'With a young baby now in tow, it will take a very special offer to persuade him to make a life elsewhere'.

The magazine goes on to say, 'Every club in the world would want to sign the Chester-born striker if he were up for grabs, but the signs for worried Liverpool fans are pretty good'.

Owen, himself, is quoted as saying: "It is impossible to say about my future at Liverpool. If they are winning the League every year, there will not be any decision to make about playing abroad. I have moved into a new house and my family are close by. I have lived there all my life and you don't just jump up and go.

"I am happy at the moment and if we have a successful team I will always be happy. Foreign players are all up for moving over here and I don't blame them. We've got such an exciting league and the lifestyle is good.

"I think it's a lot more disciplined and demanding in Italy. You are never at home and are preparing for days before the game.

"It's certainly a different culture and some people are scared to do it, especially if you have been at a club for a long time. You get deep feelings for the place.

"Maybe there will be more people go abroad now David Beckham has. People seem to go in patches, but I am very happy at Liverpool.

"There is no problem now. In an idealsituation Liverpool will do really well this season and challenge for the league. I really need to be playing in the Champions League and that's something we have to remedy."

So there you have it.

Take the last line out of context and you can claim Michael wants to leave the club.

Take a different line out of context and you can claim Michael never wants to play in Italy or move abroad.

A different line still and you could say Michael thinks the Premiership is the best league in the world.

There you have it Owen is happy at Liverpool and is not about to up and leave ! Which makes me vey happy indeed !

 

You are of course aware of how Sky Sports News can interview at 3pm and be quoting out of context by 4pm? Next you'll be quoting stuff out of The Sun as gospel.

 

They took a paragraph, lopped off the front and back, and changed the tone of what he is saying.

For an easy to follow example,

Interview:

"Mr MightyBees what is your opinion on Snuffles."

"Well I don't like him and I never will. He does make some valid points. I wish I knew where he lived so I could kick his behind!"

Next day:

Sky Sports News announces that MightyBees caves on Snuffles' opinion.... "He does make some valid points."

 

In short...Sky is clutching at straws to be the first to report what will probably end up happening. Unfortunately, they just don't have any proof yet, so they're making stuff up.

 

Although, I won't stop worrying until he signs a new deal.

 

Owen Still Backing Liverpool

To me this REAL quote that michael made to the liverpool website shows that he isnt planning on leaving in the near future :

Michael Owen has warned the critics not to write Liverpool's season off just yet and warns there is a lot more to come from Gerard Houllier's team.

The Reds number 10, who is hoping to recover from his ankle injury in time to play at Middlesbrough on Saturday, has also backed Gerard Houllier and says the Reds manager has the full backing and respect of all the players.

"It is not going to take much for us to turn our season around completely. Some of the criticism thrown at Gerard Houllier has been very harsh.

"We have suffered long term injuries to Didi Hamann, Jamie Carragher and Milan Baros and any team is going to miss players of that quality.

"We are right behind the boss because he deserves our support. He is a great man and we have the utmost respect for him. He takes all the pressure himself and protects his players.

So hopefully owens future is a liverpool ! i hope !
