Not the best thing I've ever written, but it should have been done last week, so finishing the story trumped polishing it.

Interesting notes on your broadcast experience. I have done PBP of soccer at all levels except the national team (high school, college, USL and MLS) and a lot of people don't realize how hard it can be. A lot of times you can't see the uniform number, so you have to use alternate methods of player identification. My style is very Latin (I am bilingual) except that I am speaking English. Placing the position of the ball on the field is tough since there is minimal marking on the field, unlike hockey, where you can use the lines and faceoff circles. I try to say "30 yards from the end line on the far side", for instance. The American style of soccer broadcasting is still evolving and will be for some time to come.

Sound like you got a pretty freakin cool experience. I'd love to sit in the booth one day.
