    I read the story. Sounds like the pressure is comming from the school system.

    On soccer most of the states have 2 seperate soccer seasons. Fall and spring not every player attends both.

    NYC season is a combined season fall and spring. So the players have to commit for the full season which is fall and spring. If they can't commit don't play travel soccer or just play rec soccer.

    It is a big problem when they want to play other sports in HS if those games fall on weakends.

    HS soccer is on week days. Travel soccer suffers only because you can't get the players for practice on weekdays.

    Travel soccer coaches and the players think the training they get in travel is far superior to the soccer training they get in HS.
