It just occurred to me that if Mo had really wanted to make a difference on this team, he would have suited up and played. He couldn't have been less productive than Jusko, could he? How about Peter Nowak as assistant coach?
Besides his coaching experience, his WWC analysis on the tv was super. He has a fantastic understanding of what's going on out on the pitch. I personally think that coaching estrogen-Americans is much more difficult than coaching testosterone-Americans.
If Mo leaves, that's bad for Metro. I'm guessing it's hard to find someone with his experience who's willing to be an assistant in MLS.
Probably not going to happen, but if he ever envisioned a future in coaching (MLS or elsewhere), being under Bob's wing wouldn't be the worst career move.
I got a feeling that if Mo leaves Nick S. will appoint himself assitant. You all know how much he likes to sit on the bench during matches. I really hope Mo stays.
We gave up Faria for Bob, maybe we will get some draft pick as compensation for Mo , who probably would have destroyed JuskSlow in a pickup game any time he wanted.
FWIW, Ray Hudson was NOT invited to the signing/announcement ceremony with Adu in NYC. Everytime I can remember (including NASL days), when there was a big signing or even a big draft selection, the coach is there--usually in the picture handing the kid the jersey. Kevin Payne is supposed to tell Hudson his decision after Thanksgiving as to whether or not Hudson gets an extension. Steve Goff of the Washington Post also mentioned Mo Johnston's name prominently as a candidate in DC should Hudson not be retained.
