Check this out. The MISL has a new uniform deal with Reebok and Spalding is bringing back the old orange ball of the original MISL. It seems that the only thing that is preventing the old MISL from coming back is the stupid scoring system.

MISL lands Reebok uniform deal and aims for greater TV exposure

The Major Indoor Soccer League will start next season with its first leaguewide apparel deal and an iridescent orange game ball from Spalding.

Reebok has signed on as the MISL's exclusive uniform supplier for the next three years. The deal also nets Reebok exclusive licensing rights for game jerseys, sweats, fleece and T-shirts, which it adds to its NFL and pending NBA licensing exclusives. Reebok also gets branding on the front of jerseys. In the past, teams had a patchwork of apparel deals, or bought uniforms.

Meanwhile, the league gets the benefit of Reebok's marketing, which will include participation in the league's All-Star Game in Milwaukee, along with some soft assurances that Reebok will support a national TV deal if the league lands one.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

With an eye toward TV presentation, the MISL also is switching to a "rocket red" ball from Spalding next year. The ball is similar in color to one used in the past by the original MISL, although it is not Spalding's Infusion ball, which the league used this past season.

"It's more visible, and it is a good branding device," said Commissioner Steve Ryan.

The MISL will require that each team have six local telecasts (three home and three away) in their markets next season. Discussions in pursuit of a national TV deal continue with a variety of networks.

The league adds Dallas and San Diego to its roster next season, growing to eight teams. Ryan said two more teams should come into the fold for the 2003-04 season.

The 2002-03 regular season runs from Sept. 28 to March 23.

I actually thought the new latest deal for a ball was with Puma.
