That's outragous. Either go to the PSL or just end the missery. Exhibition Schedule?

That's a slap in the face to all these good people who watch both the Rampage & the Wave United outdoor club. A schedule of friendlies and no A-League title to fight for or no US Open Cup matches. Disgusting.

Why is this news? They were working on a 12 team schedule last weekend, I thought it was obvious Milwaukee was out.

I imagine they still could participate in the Open Cup, it's just a question of when. I doubt they could participate in either Wisconsin state qualifying or the Region II tournament since their not a member of the USASA. Maybe when the PSL teams come in, but that assumes that the structure of the Cup, or the PSL for that matter, will remain the same for next year.

Then they may as well let all the other MISL teams enter the open cup if they let Milwaukee in.

If they don't play a full schedule, f'em, in my not so humble (this time) opinion.

I think they already can, being that they're registered professional clubs, it's just that they'd need to do it on a regulation field with 11 players. It's just that the indoor sides have no interest in the Cup.

wrong -you have to a member in good stanging in a out- door league sanctioned by the fed-period-----they can not play as they are no longer a member in good standing

you'd be right. They'd just have to qualify via regional tournaments. Most 'amateur' teams aren't amateur anyhow.

MISL is a sanctioned league. you pay the fee to enter qulification (at the lowest of levels) you can get in the open cup. i mean, if they had to they'd register the exhibition season as an amateur league or something and that wouldn't be too hard. They are just trying to avoid paying A-league fees and expenses for a few years because it wans't getting them anywhere.

I just looked it up on the US Soccer Federation Policy Manual. Here's the section that talks about what teams can take part.

    Section 202 Team Eligibility

To enter the Open Cup, a team must be an outdoor soccer team of a club or league of an Organization Memeber of the Federation. The team must be playing a regular club or league competition of at least 4 teams and the competition must consiste of at least 10 matches each seasonal year.

So on the surface it looks like they wouldn't be able to compete. However, it doesn't say that the competition has to be an outdoor. Nor does it state that the league must be outdoor. Because, they are part of a league that is part of the Federation and they do play in a regular league that has 4 + teams and has 10+ matches each seasonal year. ;)

They didn't anticipate this problem when they joined the A-League?!

On another note, do they still retain the rights to a team in the Milwaukee area or do they revert back to the USL?

Just because they still have the indoor squad, that shouldn't make it right for them to be part of US Open Cup Qualifying. That would mean that all clubs in the MISL should get a chance to qualify for the Open Cup.

If that does happen is it fair to the other A-League clubs who play outdoors all the time? No.

Milwaukee should be dis-qualified from USOC play

Most indoor teams don't have a roster past their playoffs because they aren't year-wound clubs. Many Impact players play indoors, for example.

It depends on how they seperated from USL, in the PDL a team can essentially take a season off to regroup. With the A-League being a much larger financial committment, it's probably different.

So no USL in Wisconsin this summer, Rebels pulled out too! It's a shame there are a lot of good soccer people in Wisconsin and a lot good places to play.

    A new record.

    A new...record.

A thread that had been dead for nearly 10 years...and which was about Milwaukee's outdoor team in the A-League...is the thread that you think is appropriate to put a link about Milwaukee's indoor team in...almost ten years later....and more than a week after the story broke...and which does not say the team is "on its way out."

Do you not see how dumb this is? And why not?
