Every soccer fan has almost always atleast two teams that they love: Their Club and their National team I've noticed that alot of European fans(among other fans, including Mexican fans) care more for their club than their country. An example being an English Liverpool fan loving Liverpool more than England, or an Mexican Chivas fan loving Chivas more than El Tri. What do you guys Prefer? I personally think that this poll will be all Country, because i know Mexican fans such as myself are some of the most passionate National team fans in the world. I Personally care much more for Mexico's National team than my Clubs(America,Puebla) So My vote goes for Country. Im still curious to see what you guys think, even though i think atleast for the Mexican soccer fans that Country will win easily...but i wanna see by how big of a Margin.
Don't take this offensively, but I see the people over there living in gringolandia take more pride in the seleccion. Myself, I love Necaxa, my club is more important for me. However, there's nothing more exciting for a fan to see than the World Cup.
i would trade every single one of cruz azul's championship to see mexico lift the world cup. I'm a hardcore cruz azul fan and will never change team, but i love watching the national team. even if mexico is just scheduled to play a friendly game, i love to watch them play.
I would let el toluca dissapear from the world like toros neza and leon just to see mexico win the world cup. El tri above anything else.
Me too then j/k I wouldn't worry about el tri winning a world cup because quetzalcoatl will guide us to the promise land.
Country. The Chivas can always contend for another domestic/regional title whether its this year or the next, but the World Cup comes around only once every four years. That means the average player only has about three opportunities to play in one. And thats assuming the team can even qualify.
Yeah, it's gotta be the National Team. Especially right now that the rojinegros have hit rock bottom. Although I really get into the Mexican clubs when they play in tournaments like the Libertadores and the Sudamericana because that's where you get to see the league's strength and there is some national pride.
I would guess the only type of person who would say club rather than country would be someone who isn't mexican but is a hardcore fan of some club in Mexico....
Patria! There's probably more who would say club if more posters were actually in Mexico, but the amount would still pale in comparison with most countries in Europe, Asia, or even South America.
Ive lived in Mexico all my life (except for two years, the worst of my life) and I prefer club over country. Like I said, The people living in US can relate more to the national team. I don't know why honestly, I guess because they don't get to see their club live, and get more Mexico matches than we do...
A club has the chance of winning a tournament every year, so no matter how much you love your team the excitment of winning a liguilla has to wind down after a while especially for teams like America, Chivas, and Cruz Azul. El tri gets a chance to win a world cup only every four years so the excitment of the world cup is always high. the national team is the only thing that I know of that can bring hardcore chivas and america fans together without fighting or anything like that.
As a Santos Laguna fan, I've seen my club go through great times (winning the Championship in 2001 and the teams current form) and horrible times (the debacle that was the past tournament and the recent mediocre years), but none of those truimphs or bad times compare to the feelings the Mexican national team evoke in me. Like when the u-17 team won the youth world cup in Peru, I don't remember ever being so happy to see my favorite team win. And when we lost to Brazil 4-0 in the 2004 Copa America, I was near depression. So I definately care more about the national team.
I'm with Necaxista. It's understandable that people who live in the U.S. prefer La Selección since most haven't grown in the geographical area their club team is and they don't get to feel the real passion of watching them live. And besides the fact that they constantly have the urge to compare our NT to that of the Gringos. I grew up in Mexico City and grew up being loyal to Cruz Azul. I hate America, Chivas, Pumas and Toluca and would never cheer for them in ANY International Cup, the rest I don't care much about. The NT is a different story, of course I want our NT to lift a WC, but sometimes the NT is hard to love for many reasons.
national team, mainly because i don't have a specific club team i root for my dad lived in mexico until he was 20, attended UANL, loves tigres with a passion, but would much rather see Mexico lift the world cup than have UANL win every tournament for 20 years it doesn't matter where you're from, it's just a matter of personal difference imo
Of Course The Nacional Team More Important I`m Not From Mexico , But I Always Feel Exiting For Watching The Nacional Team .. I Feel Really Sad , Bad When Mex Lose .. When Club America Lose I Feel Sad Too But Not The Same , I Can Get Over It ... Mexicoooooooo
How is it hard to love the national team? Its your national team. Ive been to Morelias league games there is no way they compare to the national teams games. The level of excitement is way higher
