Mallorca manager sacked

    After just 5 games? Geez. I expect that out of the now-no-longer-president Jesus Gil but you'd think Mallorca would have more patience with a new coach.

    I thought Pacheco was with Mallorca last year though. Of course, I could be wrong.

    Interesting that they pulled the trigger on the deal so soon, only 5 games into the season. Then again, Mallorca has certainly underperformed, but they've also lost their playmaker Ibagaza among others. Is it any surprise that they are struggling? Is this the coaches fault?

    No he was not it was Gregorio Manzano, here is Pacheco's short bio in Spanish.

    Jaime Pacheco es el entrenador del RCD Mallorca para la temporada 2003-04. Pacheco, nacido en Paredes (Portugal) el 22 de julio de 1958, procede del Boavista, equipo al que por primera vez en su historia hizo campeón de liga (2000-01) y con el que disputó la Champions y fue semifinalista en la pasada edición de la UEFA. Anteriormente, Pacheco dirigió al Vitoria de Guimaraes, Union Lamas, Rio Ave -estos dos últimos en 2ª División- y Paços Ferreira.

    Ah yes,

    I knew I recognized his name from somewhere, Boavista knocked off Malaga in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup last year. Still, only 5 games and he's out. Something else must have been going on behind the scenes, not just a run of bad results.
