First of all, what loss? It's a 0 - 0 draw. However, Mathis was trying to play a spin doctor here, rather than talking like a fierce competitor he once was.

All I can say to that is that it mattered to the fans who gave up other plans to come to a soccer game, fans whose money allows you to drive a porsche, Mr. Mathis. For that reason alone, it should have mattered to you.

What will Clint's excuse be when he sucks on Wednesday? (please select):

    a) The refs were horrible.
    b) Sorry, I didn't know the US Open Cup was important.
    c) I was worried about Zimmer's health and wasn't into it mentally.
    d) We didn't want to get injured for MLS Cup 2003.
    e) I thought it was a best-of-three series.
    f) All of the above.

you guys need to relax. mathis didn't play that bad, he moved off the ball and hussled. yeah, the penalty shot he should have made, but then again so should have Guevara.

Ease up on the lad... He said this game was a loss.... which means he took the tie as a loss.... which means he was pi$$ed..... which means he'll get his Mohawk back before Wednesday and give us another cup :)

I think it's pretty obvious that bob told clint to play in the midfield.

I think he did fairly well. Remember, the penalty kick in the very beginning of the match resulted after a very nice one touch throughball from mathis to wolyniec.

I'd rather see him as an out and out striker, but I think he did reasonabley well.

Gaven, Guevara, and Mathis spent the game rotating out of the Withdrawn striker/Amid role.

It was interesting, but I don't think it's the ticket.

    I'm sure some people did.

As far as Clint's performance, who knows. Maybe he is better off suited to being a midfield general type generating the attack rather than finishing it. I say have Gaven start at forward and let Clint to the work in midfield. A lot of his passes out of the neutral third of the field the last two years have resulted in some very good scoring chances if not outright goals. Since his strike against the Koreans last June his scoring touch seems to have abandonded him.

This is very very hard for me to admit, but right now, Ante Razov is a better player than Mathis. Therefore the Mathis spot on the usmnt is up for grabs. However, Mathis still has time before WCQ to prove himself.

I agree on that, but. Remember somthing, we was not counting in Guevara for the 2003 season, was Cleto our leader and the one in bringing to us the glory, and he, where the hell is he.

Bob suppose to sit him this last game, maybe like that will sparkling somthing in and bring him back to his old days, for the nex games.
