Özcan assisted all 4 goals so it's hard to criticize the coach for leaving out Schmidt, isn't it ? Both are very good talents. Only time will tell who the better player is. But they have different styles. In my opinion, Özcan's short passing and ability to play out of tight spaces are superior to Schmidt's. Schmidt's shooting and dead ball ability are better. Wück rotated his squad a lot during the U17 Euro and he thinks that was key to reaching the final. He will rotate regularly during this World Cup too. Oops. I hadn't paid attention to the other players' heights in the paper. You are right. Those are definitely wrong. Gül and Janelt are at least 10 cm taller than what it says in the paper.
I watched the first half of Mexico vs Argentina yesterday. The Mexicans were really really good. They are so comfortable and confident in possession. They had like 70% possession and pressed really well when they didn't have the ball. They can win the World Cup. Argentina didn't play badly, IMO. The Argentina coach said that ''the pace of the game was spectacular.'' I agree with him. This was a very high quality match for the U17 level. Now I understand the hype around Argentina's Conechny. He's quick, mobile and a very good dribbler. The German players need to be really careful when he has the ball. Looking at the highlights and stats of Belgium vs Mali , the Malians seem to be incredibly good. They can also win the whole thing. It looks like a very interesting World Cup with a lot of very good teams. At least 6-7 teams are capable of winning it. France, Mali, Mexico, Nigeria, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea, Chile(with the home support). And maybe Russia too because their players are pretty strong physically.
1 Frommann 2 Passlack 4 Guel 5 Karakas 6 Abu Hanna 8 Dorsch 9 Eggestein 11 Kohlert 13 Nesseler 15 Ozcan 20 Janelt Niklas Schmidt sit on bench again.
Great team combination goal. Eggestein with a sharp cross thru the Argentinean final third finding Kohlert on the opposite flank. Then sets it up smoothly for Janelt in the center. Also liking the tenacious work rate of Passlack. Always there to track back and a keen tackler. Never giving up on a play.
First test for the defence today. Dorsch made a good sliding clearance. Harsh YC for Ozcan. That was a clean strong tackle he made.
Close chance for Janelt to get his second. Nice dribbling by Karakas to breakthrough a couple players and then Kohlert with the cutting cross.
Good run by Eggestein, however the defender closed him off on a tight angle for the shot. Wins a corner, but Gul looks hurt on the pitch. Burnic warming up on the sidelines just in case. Edit: Gul is alright
Interesting to find that Argentina's starting striker, Matias Roskopf is of German descent https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matías_Roskopf
Argentinians are so pathethic. I was suprised that Schmidt wasn't in the starting line-up (vs Australia aswell), but now I understand - Ozcan is so good.
Yea, Ozcan brings a different kind of element with his technique and dribbling. He looks so sure footed and composed on the ball. Reminds me of a mix between Ozil and Yannick Gerhardt. I think Schmidt is more suited in the six role. Where he can work on possession build up and long range passes along with set piece deliveries.
Not a fan of Nessler as fullback though. He's not tactically in-tune operating on the flank or robust enough for that position.
What a tireless worker Passlack is. Covering everywhere needed on the pitch in defensive back tracking.
