Today's Glenn Davis column in the Houston Chronicle focuses on Arturo Alvarez and has some additional comments about FC Dallas:

Alvarez won't let snub get the best of him

"When I came to FC Dallas, I came with a fresh mentality with everything new. I have been focused and fit. I love Dallas and my teammates," [Alvarez] said.

...

Increased depth, ambitious youth and guidance from veterans makes this the strongest Dallas team ever. One thing it possesses that it hasn't in the past few years is a strong level of confidence.

"We step on the field thinking we are going to win," says Alvarez, a former star at Mayde Creek.

I am glad to hear that he will take the U-20 snub as a motivator this season. I saw him practice some yesterday and this kid can take people on the dribble if we get him the ball early. He beat Rhine nearly every single time he went against him.

So has every other wide midfielder in MLS....this isn't exactly the mark of a great dribbler.

True, I forgot it was Bobby I was talking about but he is starting to show some end product from so much promise. I hope he continues to get minutes because right now I would put him in front of nunez.

I don't think CC sees them competing with each other. Looks like Alvarez is slotted as a wing forward and Nunez as one of the midfielders. Nunez is unlucky that ROB is playing better in midfield then he did at forward and that we use two defensively-minded midfielders.
