Surprised, this is not already up here but mark your calendars as it appears both the US and Mexico have accepted invites to Copa America in Peru in July.
I can see Mr Flannigan typing his Peru travel tips as we speak ;)

I'll have a lot of soccer stuff that month. I also have to write my EE this summer and finish off some volunteer work so I can graduate. (I already have days to work on my EE written on the calendar; I plan ahead.:))

    Hi Mark,

How's it going? I've heard that it is definately on!
In which case I'm going to have to give it very serious consideration. It, as usual, depends on time and money and given the number of qualis where the biggest crack will be.
We'll have to wait until Dec 5th to see how the cards fall but Peru with the Argies, Mexico and Brasil in a real tournament - I'd say that is pretty much at the top of my list! What say you my friend?

Thanks for starting the thread, Brian. Good to see you and Kevin here again. I will start my "Peruvian Travel Tips" stuff soon. I contacted some folks at Sam's Army last month and they are interested in running something like this on the web site.
Here, we MAY be able to flesh out people who can correct my errors and perhaps even live in Peru.
I have been in Peru twice and have been keeping an eye on recent developments because I figured there was a chance the U.S. would accept the invitation.

Hey Brian, it's going well, thanks. Hope things are good for y'all.

I'm pretty much the same way regarding the Copa America. Let's see how qualifying looks, because getting to qualifying road games will be the highest priority, but I'm hopeful that I'll be able to swing a week in Peru. I was thinking of a short trip over for Euro2004, but would rather see the US in Copa America if we accept the offer.

Good to be back Tom thanks. Also nice to see some of the usual suspects are looking to make it there too - are you up for it Kevin? Hopefully we can get a fair few punters this time around.

Its a bloody long flight so I'm planning to spend an overnight in Miami, my old stomping ground. Yes it's a long way off but my guess is that most of us will be routed through Miami and if anyone else is up for a night on the town in South Beach to break up the journey, then the first Cuba Libre is on me.

Who knows, with a smart piece of planning we might even get a group rate on the Miami-Lima leg as I suspect most people will be arriving at about the same time. We haven't pulled this off yet but there's always a first time.

Start saving those Pesos or whatever the f*** it is that passes for Beer tokens down there!

    Brian,
Peru will be tough to finance. My first priority is a return to Mexico City with my brother-in-law and taking my son to the WC in German. A strong stockmarket in the next few years would help my soccer finances. The financial field that I work in has been quite depressed the last two years, I feel lucky to have a job after layoffs of 50%. Overtime pay has disappeared. I hope all is well with you and your wife.

I can't think of a better time to have purchased a time share. I actually bought it in anticipation of the world cup. But now that we will be down in S.A. I will be able to use at least 2 weeks next year in Peru, and still have my month + for the cup.
