Carleton's unbeaten streak is over. Brock defeated them 2-1 last weekend. Brock is also the team that defeated Carleton for the national championship last year.

I am surprised to see that the Carleton men are still ranked after their loss at home to McMaster.

I honestly couldn't believe that Carleton nearly won the CIS championship last year, I've never found them to be as strong a squad as other schools like U of T and York. Still have to give them credit for doing so well, even though they're in the weaker half of the OUA.

Have any of you played any CIS soccer at all?

    No, just NCAA D3.

Apparently Carleton has a young team this year? I thought that is what I read in the Citizen a few days ago...

Yeah I can't say that I've seen Carleton play at all in the past 2 seasons, but their style has always been the same under Sandie Mackie. They were always very physical and weren't afraid of playing the long ball. But they didn't come near some of the other school in skill. My school even beat them!

Playoffs this week, at least for the OUA...

Glad to see York U not making the playoffs...that's what you get for using ineligible players!

My mind is too occupied wondering what has happened to the Wilfrid Laurier squad over the last two years to comment on anything else. From back 2 back national champions to not even in the top ten...why? oh why?

The situation with him is that he played a year of pro soccer which is fine, but if you do, you must sit out 1 year from the date of your last year. So when he stepped onto the field, he was in his 6th year.

You can play pro (A-League) but you have to sign an amateur contract, something like $1000/month or soemthing.... 4 guys on my UofA team ddi that with the Calgary Storm.

Yeah, I guess it comes down to what is considered 'professional', and I don't think that the CPSL should have that distinction.

How did you like playing at U of A? How did you guys do?

How did I liek playing @ UofA? I LOVED it, there's only one way it could be better, but it's not the fault of U's in anyway, and that is that I wish soccer was more recognized. If only we got HALf the fans the football team does. Albeit this year is an exception, this is their first winning season in like 10 years, before that they'd still get more fans @ one game then we probably get all season.

Len Vickery is a great coach, everybody on the team will be quick to credit him for our sucess. He's instilled an attitude in which losing isn't an option, don't talk it for all it's worth though. If at the end of the day we play the best of our ability and still lose, maybe the other team deserves it more.

As much as I'd hate to admit it, i probably won't ever play professional football, and playing for UofA is the closest i'll ever get. During the CIS season, we literally play/practice every day except for Monday.

Yeah I know what you mean...

I played for 4 years at Nipissing here in Ontario...No, we weren't a powerhouse or anything near it but it was without a doubt the best experience of my life. I love being at the pitch almost 24/7. We too were there 6 days a week with mondays off after the weekend matches. It's such a good feeling being there so much, getting a good touch on the ball. The road trips were the best, the comraderie, and..oh yeah, the soccer part was aight.

A question for you - do you guys have an alumni game at all? I'm trying to organize an Alumni Cup-type thing for next year. We have only been in the OUA for 6 seasons now so we don't have too many alums.

ACtually this pre-season, we had a mini 4 team tourney. Us, Alumni, 1 team in our conference, and 1 team from a different league (college team). It was just like a semi-final sort of deal. But if you've only been around for 6 years then that's only 1-2 years of alumni players lol, it might be tough.
