Giuseppe Signori rolled back the years to put Bologna in the driving seat as they beat FK Teplice 5-1 at the Renato Dall'Ara stadium. The former Italian international striker scored twice and created two more as his side, who finished seventh in Italy's Serie A last season, outclassed their visiting Czech opponents in their semi-final first leg.
