My god, anybody listening to Arsenal Radio
for the game? I was, but their announcer was
putting me to sleep so I switched to Chelsea
(at least they have 2 announcers).

I'd much rather listen to the gunners internet
audio feed, but the drone and lack of inflection
in that guys voice was unbelievable. I thought
I was listening to a baseball game or cricket. ;)

Is this guy always so awful, or is he suffering
from a sat night bender? Yeah, I know, it's
free (thank you gunners), but surely they get
could one of you to do a better job. [end of
    rant].

There are often complaints as to the Arsenal radio broadcast. I did not listen to the game but am surprised to hear that the announcer was by himself. Ive listened several times to hear at least two sometimes three in the booth. The announcer is usually not boring either, with comments like" the night is cold and raw like sushi." Usually entertaining in a silly sort of way.

Did you go to Arsenal.com? It was my understanding you had to pay for the internet broadcast now.

I went to Arsenal.com. I signed up very
early last season, when they first
    introduced it (and pre-arsenal world
pay version). Either it's still free for
everyone, or they grandfathered me in :)

At least for the 15 mins I listened, it
was only one guy. And to give him the
benefit of the doubt, I'm sure he had
    some good descriptive commentary.
I was just dismayed by his lack of enthusiasm
and animation for this London Derby.

I'll give him a try next time, and hopefully
    it'll be better.

I went to the website and it appears that Arsenal no longer has the actual radio broadcast but are doing their own web telecast. The announcer is some new guy and he will remain by himself. I guess it is costing the club less money to have their own broadcaster than to use the radio personalities. Arsenal have made several decisions like this as it appears the website is a giant billboard now.

    It's Capitol Gold

Capital Gold does the radio play by play over the air and over the Internet. Initial reports earlier this year indicated that you would have to pay to listen this year, but it turns out you just have to be registered to listen (the free registration).

If you don't want to even register, you can go to Capital Gold's website directly and listen from that link. I did that this time as the arsenal.com website was overloaded.

Unfortunately, the CapGold/Arsenal player does not work on Mac OSX (tried several times) but will play on a Windows machine.

For more on soccer webcasts, you can always check out http://www.penguinradio.com/sports/soccer/ or http://www.socceraudio.com/

That was last year. This year, Arsenal have an in house broadcaster, Adam Leventhal. He's a bit bland, but he's still miles better than Jonathan Pearce, who's flat out horrible. They've had consistent problems with the audio, however-- it always sounds metallic, almost like they're recording someone speaking over the public address with the microphones incorrectly positioned.

Also, you still do not have to pay, just register on the site.

I was well pissed off last week when I coudn't tune in to the Arsenal's pounding of the Baggies. Thank you for the Play by Play. I couldn't get any audio from the Arsenal site which is suffering from obvious load problems. I couldn't find the Capital Gold Audio anywhere either, all I seemed to be getting was some god awful classic pop music.

By the way, I don't think the commentary could be any worse than what I endured from FSW on Sunday.

Why does every commentator feel obliged to harp on about the Ronaldhino fluke every time Seaman misses a save? Talk about flogging a dead horse!

What we've found is that if Capital Gold is in fact continuing to air Arsenal over the air, they are not streaming it to the internet. Seems as if they are instead streaming music, either a replay of one of their standard music programs or something simply to cover the hours of Arsenal matches.

What you hear from the Arsenal site is their in house bootstrap effort.

We do have links on our site for nearly every club, even those that have subscription "World" programs, that may be temporary, may be mistakes, but for now should gain access to the webcast from the 'opponent' team, should the in house Arsenal broadcasts be less competent than what you want. (The only EPL team that seems to be totally unavailable for free is Liverpool).

It sounds like I am the sole and founding member of the Jonathan Pierce fan club...

sincerely, I liked the Jon' the screamer.. he was something different. He could also sometimes be funny.

I second the comment about the poor commentary on FSW telecasts. Can't they pay a second guy to do color? It's incredibly lame.

I love it when FSW picks up the Sky Sports feed, those guys aren't terribly exciting but at least there's more than one of them.

    I know I'm answering myself...

    FINALLY!

It only took almost the entire first half, but the broadcast is now working correctly.

I personally like the Arsenal broadcaster

I have heard worst by far and when I listened to the Man City VS Arsenal, he sounded good. Shame thats the last time I was able to listen to it. However I listen to talk sport(www.talksport.net) and they go to each ground to let you know what is going on. However I still haven't been able to find a free live audio broadcast that does the pbp when the game is going on. Leeds does a free broadcast, but about 4 hours after the game has ended.
