    Galaxy, Chivas Gain TV Deal

MLS will be getting a rights fee from Fox Sports Net and will be sharing revenues with FSN to put Galaxy and Chivas USA games on FSN West and FSN West 2. And basically, Chivas USA made the deal happen, a deal that wouldn't have happened for the Galaxy on its own.

It will be fun to watch as the Chivas wave starts to build for MLS. Starting with the expansion draft and then as they can sign players. I have a feeling they are going to do a lot for the league and all The Flat Earth Society members will be sent running.

Chivas USA, owned by Mexican businessman Jorge Vergara, yielded its sponsorship sales and broadcast rights to the Galaxy as part of the agreement that allows Chivas USA to play in Los Angeles and to share the Home Depot Center with the Galaxy.

Its great news and personally I look forward to attending the LA derby games which should be quite intense.

Have any Spanish language channels bought rights to air Chivas USA games?

    ESPN better think quick

If ESPN doesn't do something, and soon, Fox will swoop in and take MLS exclusively.

ESPN has been getting paid for airtime by SUM for televising MLS matches and feeling pretty good about it. Now, their competitor has paid for the rights to televise nearly seventy percent of the two LA team's matches. If FSN's gamble pays off, Fox might want the whole enchilada, and ESPN will be left saying, " What happened?"

No link to back this up, but I remember reading that a Spanish language network cut a deal with MLS for 2005. Various Styles would know for sure. I'll wait till he chimes in, as he knows all things Chivas. :)

This is not good. Won't they get hurt as they fall off the edge?

the thing i like about Chivas is that it apparently seems to be a more independent entity running things the way it wants and thats the direction I think all teams in MLS should go toward

Well, I was one of those a bit skepitical; however, I will be more than happy to proven wrong...And this is a good sign.

Ha! I did not even need this piece of info to know Chivas USA is helping out the league, although this is clearly a positive step....And it is not even because i'm Hispanic, as i still will hate them with a passion (on the field anyway).... But as soon as they took Wrongen as coach, i knew that
it meant my team could not possibly take him....That alone is a positive, and i'm quite sure most fans of the other MLS clubs agree.....

Did you miss this part in the LA Times story?
That doesn't sound like "independence" to me.

If MLS goes to FOX...can anyone else picture Joe Buck and Tim McCarver doing the telecasts?

Will Scooter be at the games? Maybe he can tell us how to kick a knuckle ball..you know the one Wynalda kept on talking about in the finals.
