Every cloud has its silver lining...

With Costa Rica advancing after tying Honduras 0-0 in San Pedro Sula, at least we won't have an exhausted midfield general jetting off to Central America for three or four games as we head down the stretch into the postseason next year.

IMO, this "distraction" was a big reason for Amado's drop-off in form towards the end of the season. We have all seen with our own eyes that he plays hard on both offense and defense, and I can't imagine he holds anything back when he plays for his national team, either.

Guevara focused only on the Metros next season should pay dividends... provided we get some more veteran leadership onto the field. My $0.02 on the subject - and I feel just a little bit better about this year's flameout against D.C. :(

MODS - please change title to something that does not give away the Honduran-CR score from Wed. This game will be on TV this weekend on Telemundo. Please also put [R] in the title.

Concacaf Gold Cup will be played in July minimum 4 games per team max of 8 depending on how far they go , Guevara + other metro players might be away for 2-3 weeks

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Amado retired from the Catrachos. He'll be 34 by the 2010 WC, so the Honduran fed might decide to go with the youth movement starting now. They reaped what they sowed here - there's no way they should ever have fired Maradiaga (who led a less talented Guatemala to the Hex at Honduras's expense, incidently).

It's a shame that Guevara never got to play in a World Cup. Maybe leading us to the MLS Cup next year will make up for it. ;) It's a bigger shame that that jackhole Warner fixes the semis so that T&T can go through to the Hex every time. Honduras, Canada and Jamaica are all better than the Soca Warriors.

Oh well. Makes our job easier next year.

Re: veteran leadership, I expect to get some more from the likes of Clark, Gaven, Magee, Parke, etc. next year. We've struggled down the stretch the past two years because of injuries and fatigue, yes, but mostly because of youth. While we'll still be young next year, we won't be inexperienced, so include me in the camp that doesn't think we need to go get more veteran help.

Man, some of the MLS games in July are going to suck big moose balls. At least it's not the stretch run, but rather the dog days of summer! And we'll get to see how the vaunted roster enlargement works out...

There has GOT to be a limit to the [R] rule, right? Four day tape delay on a Spanish cable channel with two teams not involving the Metros or the USMNT directly... sheesh. If anyone in the U.S. will actually watch that game not knowing the result, bet they didn't LOG ONTO BIGSOCCER beforehand.

By that logic, guess we shouldn't post that Brazil is the defending world cup holder anywhere, since it does give away the result of the last World Cup Final, which is being rebroadcast on Fox Sports World.

On the other hand, apologies for playing the spoiler. :D
