Fox Sports World will also air the championship game on Sunday live at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT featuring the winner of the U.S.-Germany semifinal and either Canada or Brazil, who will square off in the other semifinal on Thursday. The broadcast rights to both matches were obtained by U.S. Soccer, with support from Eurosport and Fox Sports World, who cleared broadcast time on their network on short notice in order to bring the games to soccer fans across the United States. "To take the initiative to get these matches on TV back home is just another sign of U.S. Soccer's tremendous support for this team and the women's game," said U-19 head coach Tracey Leone. "Most importantly, though, it will give soccer fans in the U.S. a chance to see this wonderful team and these wonderful players that are representing them here." The U-19 Women have been on a dynamic run throughout the tournament, compiling a perfect 4-0 record and outscoring their opposition 21-1. The U.S. attack has been spearheaded by the new generation "Triple-Edged Sword" of Lindsay Tarpley, Heather O'Reilly and Kelly Wilson, a trio of forwards who have combined for more than 60 goals in their U-19 international careers. In this tournament alone, Wilson has scored seven, while Tarpley and O'Reilly have notched four each. *** Coach Leone comments… On the state of her team heading into the semifinal: "The team is very excited about tomorrow. We've grown accustomed to Edmonton in the short time we've been here and today's training at the stadium will help us get comfortable with the surface and surroundings. This is what they have been working towards for a very long time and the girls are focused and ready to go. We're happy to be one of the final four survivors." On Germany: "We know it will be a very physical and combative game. The Germans are always so well organized and dangerous on the counter attack because they have some great attacking personalities. We have great respect for their tradition, style and coaching staff. We certainly anticipated that they would be in the final four." On her impressions of the tournament overall: "The overall tournament has been magnificent. The crowds have been enthusiastic and large and the play has been of a very high level. The excitement that the Canadians have generated has been wonderful to see. The people are aware of the tournament and it's just felt like world championship everywhere we've gone. The organizing committee has really put together a special event."
OKAY some please help me.. is fox sports world on a sat dish only??? because i dont think i get it but i wanted to know what it was on
I get FSWD on DirecTV channel 613 but others throughout BigSoccer that do not have DirecTV still get it either through a different dish provider or through their cable system.
here in cowlumbus, you can get FSW through time warner, but its the digital cable and the variety pack or something like that.
Well so far the US defense has looked like CRAP. I wonder if the easy games have hurt them. Germany gets an uncontested goal in the 17th minute. The Offense has not looked much better and the decissions are worse.
What I can't get over is how slow the entire US defense seems compared to German forwards. When it comes down to a 1-v-1 footrace, the Germans are winning every single time. Also, the US keeper seems glued to her line. I keep expecting her to come out, but she just stands back there looking confused.
This looks EXACTLY like a USSF coached team. Under pressure a LOT of aimless passing and the relying on one pas to get to goal. The combination play is all away from the goal and the decisions are absolutely pathetic. Very much like the senior squad under the Ape. It "should" be 3 or 4 to 1 but both teams have hit the woodwork and the Germans have missed a couple. The Germans have a problem 1v1 however as the US skill is higher and it just paid off in a US goal off a German defensive mistake and a single cut back pass. 1-1
Another single pass after a lot of aimless play and the center of the German defense gives another away. 2-1 US But the US is NOT playing well at all. It is just the mistakes by the Germans that have let them get the goals. None of the plays leading to goals were very skillfull rather the defenses just gave the goal away for all three goals.
I usually do not rag the referees too much BUT EVERY SINGLE CALL IS GOING THE US's WAY. There have been phantom calls and offside calls that clearly were wrong and the US gets every one. A HORRIBLE offside call against the Germans leads to a US counter and results in a corner and then a goal. While the US, it looks like, will win this easily on skill alone the refereeing has helped, in the first half, immensely. I want the US to win but I do NOT want the referees to give them the game as is now happening. 3-1 Half time.
Manya was wearing yellow -- a sure sign of being on the bench. My take on the game: The Americans won this game on fitness; they let Germany take their best punches and the Green only scored on a U.S. defensive breakdown (1 v 1 steal, missed tackle, open player at the penalty spot). The US buried Germany after that. Great finish on the first, NOT OFFSIDE on the second, and "where was the defense" on the corner header on the third. Jill Oakes was a monster in the second half. Great clearance off the line, Hamm-like blast in stoppage time.

There's no doubt in my mind that .......... After I watched US vs Germany yesterday, I have no doubt in my my mind that the USWNT senior world cup throphy will be with us for much more years to come, there were three players ( without underestimating other players), O'Riley, Kelly Wilson, Tarpley one of the reasons, they are sharp and talented individually also the rest of the players including deffensive players are amazing, this is definitely the backbone of their predecessors.
They are remind me of Hamm, Mc Millan and Foudy. O'Reilly so damn fast ! she got Mc Millan style of play only a little faster. on the other hand Kelly Wilson plays like Mia but slower than her and Tarpley with some more experience will be the next Julie Foudy.
Aside from the giveaway that led to the German goal Oakes played as dominating a center back as I've seen out of any Yank, male or female, young or old. Her goal was the icing on the cake, a touch off the right foot and a laser with the left into the LH 90 that Ollie Kahn would have watched go by. She also cleared a ball off the line with a flying volley in the second half and was definitely WOTM amidst some nice performances by the front thr I'll be terribly disappointed if, despite the hostile crowd, the US doesn't win this tourney handily Sunday.

The US overwhelmed the Germans in the midfield. They always went after the ball in numbers and not only repeatedly stole the ball away but also dumped the Germans on the ground a lot. O'Riley's speed is amazing. Definitely the fastest US woman forward I've ever seen on any level. Tarpley's passing reminds you of Mia Hamm. Next US 5 - Canada 1 ( Canada awarded a penalty)
Excellent analysis! I noted that O'Reilly reminded me of Shannon, but I think you've nailed the other two on the head as well. Couldn't help but think the future of the USWNT is looking pretty bright.
