I read this article in the newspaper a few weeks ago, but I forgot about it until a last week. I searched and found the article on-line. I don't have the time at the moment to attempt to translate but here it is, http://www.deniksport.cz/clanek.asp...&rocnik=2002&mesic=8&ex_co=Clanky&ex_id=62014 To me it seems like he has being training with Teplice and is now on loan or some thing with Chomotuv of the second division. Does anyone else know Czech, mine is really weak.
Looks like our man is probably Conor Collins (one "n" in the first name), a Texan who presumably graduated from Florida International this spring. http://www.fiu.edu/~athletic/mshome/profiles2001/collins.htm He managed 2g/1a in 14 games as a senior for a 10-8 team. http://www.fiu.edu/~athletic/msstats2001/teamcume.htm#TEAM.IND His youth club's alumni page: http://www.eaglesoccer.com/alumni.cfm No idea if/where he has been playing up to now. Any updates you might come across would be very welcome.
...More specifically, an Austinite. That youth club is an Austin club. That'll maybe give a little more focus to the research.
Okay, unfortunately when I printed the article it was too wide for the paper. This is what I understood with my suspect Czech. - article called him an ambassador of North American soccer. - he was supposed to get ready.. ie train.. with Chomotuv of the second division. - first contact was over email - recommended by Steve Trittschuh - I think Conor said that the soccer here was at a different level. - they asked if he watched soccer on the old continent and he said the champions league. - mentioned that he had excellent technique. - first reference to Teplice about Conor was in Texas Sorry, not sure if he has signed or just training. I can tell you that he played for the Teplice B... reserves... two days ago. Teplice B plays in the čfl which is the third division. The MSFL is the third division in Moravia. Teplice B lost 4-1 at home to one of the top teams Prachatice. Collins entered the game in the 75th minute. Before anyone blows off the Czech third division, I must say that it is rather strong for a third division. It is perfect for the development of a young player. I will check the papers this weekend to see if he played for Teplice B. Great to finally see a North American in the Czech league. Oh yeah, Teplice fired their coach yesterday after a 2-1 loss to Liberec. They have opened their season with one win and four losses. Two days ago they only beat division four team, Kladno, 1-0 in the second round of the Czech Cup. They will now play Křomeriž in the third round next week.
He did not play for Teplice B this weekend in a 2-0 victory over Støížkov. Teplice plays tomorrow against Kromeriz in the Czech Cup third round.
