He deserves it. He should have been red carded on the spot. I like the intensity he brings, but Evan has a very bad temper and he frequently lets it get the better of him. If I wasn't a Fire fan I'd call him a thug. Since I am a Fire fan I'll call him overzealous, but he really needs to cool it with this crap.

As a neutral, I have to say he had this coming. It was pretty deliberate and hard and, most important, visible.

Presumably Justin Mapp will take his place at right mid. If he plays well, do you guys think Mapp and Perez will start in the playoffs or will Perez get bumped and Mapp and Whitfield will start?

Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree. Watch the replay. The contact was initiated by Broome. He was closing at a high rate of speed and ran right into Whitfield from the back. Whitfield's arm did come back but it was not cocked or even crooked. It came back straight. It's tough to get much of a blow with your upper arm on something that's behind you when your arm is fully extended (try it sometime).

If it was so egregious why didn't one of the many referees say so? Probably because they judged it (properly) to be incidental contact. The fact that he was slightly injured is immaterial. Does someone get penalized whenever a player gets injured. I don't think so.

I still don't know how the ref missed it and failed to give him his second yellow....not that it would have helped us much.

Watching it live at full speed, right on the side where it happened, it looked more like a repeat of about 5 other plays in the half, Broome running full speed into Whitfield's back and giving him the nice small-of-the-back shove.

It looked more like his arm flew back on the shove than by a swing.....

I will grant it was a foul on Whitfield's part, and possibly one deserving of a yellow card, but Broome was not a blameless innocent bunny crushed out of nowhere, he was attempting as best he could to make something like that happen.

Do I think it merited a 2 game suspension? no.

The elbow that Broome delivered to Whitfield's head a few minutes earlier apparently did not get reviewed.

He should have broken his leg! Would have gotten off easier.

So how has Ronnie O'Brien's season gone?

And Brandon Pollard's career really has taken off the last few years.
