How are the men in orange gonna win the world cup... they are the bestest team but just cant get the results when it matters the most ya know HOLLAND 4 LIFE
Lets start by naming the new names in 2006 squad: Van Persi Buffel Van der Gun Van der Vaart Theo Jansen Robben van der Schaaf Huntelaar goto go, who can finish the list ?
Errr, Buffel?? He's a belgian..RutgerB. 1974, 1978, 1990(with a fantastic squad), 1998...we had lots of chances to win it. But thans too a Cruijff-offday, a ball on the post, troubles in the squad and penalty kicks we're still without any worldcups. I'm just happy Van Basten had a great couple of weeks in 1988...
When: a. They can select 23 players who can go five weeks without bickering with each other. b. When they can find a coach who has a bigger ego than the 23 players under his charge, thus, if nothing else, intimidating his players into listening to him. c. When they decide they actually want to win a World Cup. d. When their players grow spines to augment their brilliant footballing brains. e. Given a, b, c, and d, above, never.
and finally, when they get rid of their stupid artistic view on football, best described by the Dennis Bergkamp quote "I'll rather not score at all than make an ugly goal". The big difference between the successfull Germany and the equally good, but unsuccessfull Holland, is that the germans don't care about the looks of the game as long as they score more times than the opponent.
The Dutch know they are one of the best, that is enough...Dennis is right why bother scoring ugly? any team can do that!
Because if you have any professional pride, winning is more important than catching a sun tan every fourth summer.
I would also like to see them win. But I still enjoy the fact that almost every tournament the world press praises the team more than any other. Awww hell... Ajax comes first anyway.
My man. Nobody here ever understands when I try to explain that Crystal Palace are far, far more important than England, and that given the choice between promotion (for Palace) or the World Cup (for England) it would be the easiest choice in history (promotion, please). You are absolutely right. Have one on me.
I'd have to like Holland's chances if they ever get to host a World Cup. But then again, it didn't help them win the European Championships either.
