http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/...2&subContrassID=1&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y This ha'aretz special give full space to various opinions, news etc. Oh Sharon is furious, maybe because the lie that there is no counterpart to negotiate has been unveiled by this basic agreement.
Uh...who??? The quote that the peace proposal was an agreement between "Israeli opposition and Palestinian officials" is a lie. I've never heard of Rabbo and, if he is a "former minister", he is not a current Palestinian official. Perhaps he, like Abu Mazen, was ousted precisely because he was willing to make peace with Israel? And even if it was Yasser Arafat himself who made the agreement with the Israeli opposition, I still wouldn't put any stock in it. After all, it's in Arafat's interest to see some dovish leftie, who will sit around and talk about negotiations while Israeli children are murdered, get elected in Jerusalem.
Re: Re: The Geneva Accord What a clever political analyst you are dfb. Read something if you're ignorant. There's plenty of articles in that special. Rabbo is a wellknown palestinian politician. In the top rank. Do you know israeli Amram Mitzna? Look what he thinks about it. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/...2&subContrassID=1&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y But... have US medias talked about this initiative?
With time and patience anyone can find an article taking any position on any issue on the web. I'll bet you can find articles about Hitler and Saddam being great humanitarians. Weeeeeee!
In the words of Thomas Aquinas, DUH. No Israeli government is going to agree to the right of return. Why are you acting shocked? I heard on the radio news today that the Muslim authority controlling the Temple Mount doesn't allow Jews into the area. Can anyone confirm, or do I have to look it up myself? Please don't make me do research. I hate learning things.
An article? Why don't you click the link? http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/...2&subContrassID=1&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y House18 do you know what Ha'aretz is?
Re: Re: The Geneva Accord What a lie. Israel knows and accepts the fact that the West Bank and Gaza are not theirs. They know that will maybe be a palestinian state. They simply are not willing to make a handoff while their citizens are being murdered.
Re: Re: The Geneva Accord The palestinian signers are said to be men near Arafat and Marwan Barghouti. Not really the less influential palestinian leaders. Dan, Sharon isn't furious because of the terms of the accord, it is furious because the result of this laburist initiative could be that "now many people will reach the understanding that they have been deceived for the last three years. For three years the prime minister brainwashed the public on the grounds that only force will bring victory. He and his colleagues made the public believe that there truly is "nobody to talk to," that" the IDF can win" and that if we use more force, the Palestinians will break." As Amram Mitzna said. Did you read Mitzna's opinion? I posted the link in this thread.
Re: Re: Re: The Geneva Accord But do they have the authority to enforce the terms of the agreement and reign in the terrorists? The whole (supposed) reason Sharon won't negotiate with Arafat is that Arafat can't or won't stop the terrorism. Is there any reason to believe that this Rabbo person can?
Re: Re: Re: The Geneva Accord Well, I'm not clear on how and why the Wakf control the Temple Mount site, but it's a real issue that they don't want to allow Jews to have any access to the site. (Of course, the issue is muddied by the fact that even Orthodox Jews are divided on the issue, but the Wakf position doesn't exactly come from the same point of view.) Basically, there's no way that any Israeli government will give up sovereignty on the Temple Mount. Muslims are allowed in under Israeli control; there's no chance the same courtesy will be extended if the opposite is true. It wasn't between 1948 and 1967, after all. The Palestinians have two, in my opinion, unreasonable positions - the right of return, and political control of East Jerusalem. Any negotiations with those issues are guaranteed non-starters. And how would any Italian government feel if non-elected leaders were negotiating with enemies in Italy's name? I can guess how George W. Bush would react to an American stunt like this, and he'd be right.
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=352826 I remember it happened also with Rabin. Trying to build bridges instead of destroying them, how criminal they are... Important.
Whether in Israel, California, or arguably Florida, some people don't respect elections. Ariel Sharon 1,698,077 62.39% Ehud Barak 1,023,944 37.61%
Thank you for keeping alive the thread, Ben. There are multiple examples in history where the minority was right and the majority totally wrong and foolish. No one is going to perform a golpe. The accord is there for clever and willing ppl to see.
