Actually I don't know if he is just a U17 coach or a US staff coach that will work with all teams. Mods change title if you know.

I'm fairly sure you got it right. The U-17 National team started employing 4 full-time coaches when they expanded the numbers in the program. Ellinger, Hackworth, Fulk and Mellor were the coaches at the start of the year. Ellinger and Mellor are leaving for Salt Lake, so Diaz Arce fills one of the spots, but they still need to find a goalkeeper coach to replace Mellor.

It is actually a good development. Our youth teams are famous that just know one way to play soccer-fast on whole games. With some input from Latin side is good. I wait for Vaderrama or Etchivery show up in US youth national team side too.

Very good development. Have to start somewhere.

Might as well be with Raul. He said all of the right things. He hit the major issues dead on. Was hoping we would hire a Spanish, Brazilian, Italian or Portuguese youth coach. Can't have everything.

At least this is a basic acknowledgement that we don't have enough American coaches who think like this. Big step. Wish we would see more.

A great step. We need more diversity with the coaching staff and we need more appreciation in the U.S. for finishing skills.

I'm excited. I think that by and large, these USSF guys are on the right track. It's not very often that I have faith in sports bureacracies. :)

RDA has said some great things right there, and is very accurate in what he said. The US does have a lot talented players, but they need to make their game more diverse. Eddie Gaven is kinda like this. Great skills, but there are some things that are needed to be learned, and I'm sure that a former player like him can make the Gavens much better.

I think we may see two more full time assistants come in actually - and RDA is definitely an assistant with U17s.

I think this is great...The more diversity in coaching, the better...
