No. 6 Truman State had a rough weekend at their own invitational ... losing 3-0 to unranked Nebraska-Omaha and tying 0-0 with No. 12 Northern Colorado.

Those results meant that they dropped all the way down to 23rd in the rankings that just came out.

Somehow, the University of Nebraska (Omaha) jumped from unranked to 7th! And Incarnate Word dropped out of the top 25 after being in that spot (the lost to Regis)...

I must admit, I find that thoroughly amusing ... especially after UNO's not receiving much love of any kind for the past two seasons. With a six-game homestand coming up, though, they could certainly solidify that spot.

I notice from their roster that all of their players are from Nebraska or the states surrounding it. I'm surprised that there are two players from a town as small as Blair is...

Blair has a quality high school program and they're almost always in the running for the Class B title. I'm surprised more of their players don't move on to play in college.

    Broncos Rebound In CCAA Opener

Cal Poly Pomona's got goals from Lisa Araujo & Erica Rodriguez (Fr., San Diego, Bonita Vista HS) and edged Grand Canyon, 2-1, Tuesday at the GCU Soccer Complex.

Earlier in the day, the Broncos announced that third-team All-American defender Tara Chance would be sidelined for the remainder of the year after suffering a torn ACL in her left knee in the match against Barry University on Sunday.

More defensive play by a top 25 CCAA team...

    Re: NKU-Tusculum game [R]

That's going to be a fun one - I'd like to be there myself.

#7 UNO (4-0) beat Wayne State 3-0 today, though it could've been much worse. Tomorrow will be the big test as the Mavs go up against Missouri Southern (5-0), 4-3 winners over North Dakota State in double OT. The Griffins are No. 9 in the Central Region rankings.

Albyn-Jones ratings out for Div II

I'm glad to see that the ratings are finally out. I'm actually a bit surprised that UCSD is still listed on top, as they've only just beaten their opponents, not overwhelmed anyone.

Of course, the ratings do not reflect the results of the games yesterday, so some of the positions might change... The CCAA has 4 teams in the top 13, 5 in the top 22, and 6 in the top 28

    NKU Norse - Congratulations!

Congratulations to Northern Kentucky on their 1-0 win over the top-ranked Bucaneers of Christian Brothers...
    http://www.nku.edu/~athletics/wsoccsept15y2k02.htm

I won't call the win an upset, as Albin-Jones had them ranked at #3, one spot ahead of CBU.

I also notice that in the A-B ratings Belmont Abbey is all the way down in the 30th spot. Can anyone figure out why the NSCAA poll has them listed so much higher (at 6th)???

    16 Sept NSCAA Rankings

Northern Kentucky jumps into first place after the their shutout of Christian Brothers, who drop to 4th place.
    http://www.nscaa.com/rank/20020916/D2W/0/index.html

I'm still wondering why Belmont is ranked so high. Can anyone clue me in on that? THey were only ranked 23rd in the preseason, and haven't played anyone in the top 25...

    Re: NKU Norse - Congratulations!

The NSCAA polls are based on a compilation of regional rankings, where the Albyn Jones power ratings figure in a number of variables, including strength of schedule, home/away/neutral site results, etc. It's entirely possible to be ranked a top 10 team by NSCAA and not be in the top 30 A-B ratings.
Interesting to note that NKU gets the first place nod apparently on the strength of a simple man-marking performance against CBU's top scorer.

#3 Franklin Pierce game on 9-18

The Ravens defeated a New Haven team that was rated 130th by Albin-Jones by a score of 7-0. They were so confident of victory that they gave a sophomore keeper the start - and she never had to make a save as FPU outshot their opponent 31-1.

#7 Nebraska-Omaha beat Minnesota-Duluth 3-0 today ... another non-conference, in-region win. UNO hasn't allowed a goal in 520+ minutes, shutting out opponents in five straight games after Winona State scored in the first half of the first game.

That could change tomorrow when the Mavs play Creighton in the 'Omaha Derby.' Creighton, incidentally, tied Nebraska 1-1 at Tranquility Park Friday night in a game that could only be called a slugfest.

They are ... we've played them four times before already, though, three times in the regular season and once in preseason. Sort of an in-town thing.

UNO wins 2-0, 613:33 scoreless minutes and counting. CU is one tough team, but UNO's finishing won the day. It could've been much more high scoring, though, as CU (3-4-1) had two offside goals called back and UNO (7-0) had two second-half shots his the crossbar and bounce straight down to the keeper.
