I'd take Meira. We need center back depth. We can sign Onyewu so we have the slowest CB pairing in the league.

Galaxy traded Kempin to Columbus for a 4th Round Draft Pick. Even though we declined his option, we retained his rights. I guess we got something for those rights, but it's not much. in exchange for a Fourth Round pick in the 2018 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. At least we get something

Usually you don't get a lot of talent with a fourth round Draft pick. That said we need players for G2 so why not, but this move is almost insignificant to me. Not surprised by the Columbus destination, remember he saved two PKs in the same match against them.
Jonathan Tannenwald @thegoalkeeper 32s33 seconds ago Kip Colvey to Colorado, Clement Diop to Montreal. The Union passed. So, two of our three goalkeepers from 2017 have found new homes.

https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2017/12/13/la-galaxy-pass-mls-waiver-draft We didn't pick anybody. Time for the Re-Entry Draft.
What is the re-entry draft and who is eligible? I feel like I should know this but I am drawing a blank.
All the players who are out of contract and do not qualify for Free Agency and players who did not get their option approved. First round you get the player at current contract. Following rounds you are able to re-negotiate
I might be wrong on this, but all the players who are waived and don't qualify for free agency are placed in the waiver draft -- and in that draft if you pick a player you have to pay them under their existing deal. And those that aren't picked then go into the re-entry draft -- and this time teams can negotiate a new offer -- i.e. pay them less than they were making before. So I think most teams wait for this second stab at the players so they can pay less for them. EDIT: Dr. Phil beat me to it.
Re-Entry Draft is for players who have hit certain longevity metrics in MLS and had their options declined or contract expired. Essentially it's a "my current MLS team doesn't want me, let's see if anyone else does". It's basically a waiver draft with players that some MLS teams would want. However, players can opt out of the Re-Entry if they want their rights to remain with their current team (if they think there may be an option to return either now or down the line) or don't want to continue in MLS. If you hit any of the following, you'll be in the RED: At least 23 years old and 3 years of MLS service and option declined. At least 25 years old and 5 years of MLS service and contract expired. Free agents who opt into the RED. MLS teams can keep those players out of the Re-Entry Draft by offering them a "bonafide contract", which would be at least 100% (for metric 2) or 105% (for metric 3) of their current base salary with each option year having at least a 5% raise and at least the same bonuses as the current contract. The first round of the RED, if you select a player you either automatically pick up his option (if the option was declined) or you must offer the player a bonafide contract. If you select a player in the second round of the RED, you must offer the player a "genuine offer" contract in the next seven days. I don't believe the list of players eligible this year has been released yet.
Thank you all for explaining. Makes our decision not to go for any of those players a bit smarter now.
It should be noted that no player will end up in both the Waiver and Re-Entry Drafts. If we really wanted a player in the waiver draft, we should have taken him. That being said, almost all of them aren't worth picking up and now they're sorta free agents, available to MLS clubs on a first come first served basis
BREAKING: LA Galaxy have signed 26-year old Norwegian Defender, Jorgen Skjelvik.Official announcement expected in the coming days. Story to follow.#LAGalaxy #MLS— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) December 13, 2017 It's about time we heard something.
First signing sounds like a good signing. Looking forward to the next 7-8 signings we need in the next month.
Jørgen Skjelvik https://www.transfermarkt.com/jorgen-skjelvik/profil/spieler/112336 https://www.whoscored.com/Players/139528/Show/Jørgen-Skjelvik Obliviously these aren't 100% but something we can kind of base things on
So you'd say something to him that he, culturally, knows is a stupid, uninformed attempt? He laugh in your face. He's not an idiot.
