The American Subbuteo Association (ASA) will be holding the U.S. National Subbuteo tournament in Alexandria, Virginia, the weekend of November 2-3. November 2nd (Saturday) will be the day of the national tournament. November 3rd will be the MLS Cup tournament (or a USA v. Canada team competition). Membership to the ASA is free, so don't let the official-sounding name fool you. All subbuteo players (past, present, future, curious, etc...) are welcome and encouraged to attend. Contact subbuteo1@comcast.net or subbuteo@netzero.com for more details, questions about this great game, a list of players who live near you, etc... You may also send me a PM.
It's a alive and kicking. Actually the Subbuteo World Cup is being held this weekend in Birmingham England. Our American representative and defending national champion is hoping to make it two-for-two in advancing out of the first round.
Don't knock 'Subbuteo' I designed my first 'match engine' as a board game using an old subbuteo pitch .... One of these days I'll get around to purchasing a new set and get thrashed by the other guys here
Our league in Connecticut meets about once a week. ct-tablesoccer.tk is our site. We also had one of our guys travel to England for the World Cup. Got it handed to him, but at least he went.
JT is a good man...a peculiar man but a good man. After all he's seen fire and he's seen rain and all that... So are you going to come on down for the National? I know Mass can't come but hopefully JT and you all will. And bring the Portuguese guy, too!
I don't think we'll be able to make it, but if the calendar works right, we'll try. JT - peculiar is accurate. Good man, yes - but not in a subbuteo sense
But can Jimbo beat Mass now???? Or me We had a guy go to England on business. He came back after playing over there and just began to dominate us. Jimbo's touch already is sublime in my book. His shooting was always his bane but playing more quickly will open up more lanes for him and thus more 'in-game' shooting opportunities.
He does have great touch, and you are right about the speed. Shooting...bane is a great word. I nearly equalized deflecting one off his figure. I think before England-Belgium, I get that goal and get the point.
Good site. I like the shot of the two geezers playing in front of the packed main stand at Wolves... biggest crowd they'll ever see... What an awesome game. Beats the hell out of computer soccer. I defy anyone to play once and not be hooked.
ROFL. Tried it, pieces broke, binned it. Do yourself a favour, pack up the Subbuteo set, chuck it in the trash, and buy yourself a copy of PES2 for a real virtual football experiece.
