Spelling in the thread title is intentional... MLS has put up its top 5 candidates for goal of the week. The final 5 are... Arturo Alvarez (F*C* Dallas) Jose Burciaga (KC) Ricardo Clark (Houston) Michael Enfield (LA) Brian Mullan (San Jose) Conspicuous in its absense is Thiago's amazing goal from midweek vs DC United. I don't know what more I can do (and I have no hopes that this will do anything) but I sent an e-mail to feedback@mlsnet.com ... It's a travesty if you ask me. Thiago's goal would wipe the floor with those, with possibly Clark's the only contender. Is it really possible that Thiago is getting screwed because DC can't get their TV situation straight?
yup, i'd bet that the reason his goal isn't on there is becuase of the tv thing. i remember a couple years ago, Razov scored an amazing goal against the metros in OT to win, and it won goal of the week, but after that the link was messed up, and so the goal wasn't in goal of the year voting. i don't know if it would've won, but Razov was screwed out of the chance to win (i would've voted for it) becuase of a messed up link.
But they were still able to show the goal on the Comcast halftime highlights of the Fire vs. Chivas. The video has to be out there and in their possession.
TRAVESTY. This really pisses me the fvck off because I want to see this goal again. MLS can eat themselves.
Same here. Glad to see I'm not the only person who thinks Thiago has been screwed. I've been checking the MLS site looking for a replay of that goal. I couldn't believe it after seeing it live (and wanted to relive it again) If I had a clip of it I would send it in an email to them. For shame. I sent off an email to feedback also letting them know what a sham I think it is.
This probably won't make you feel any better, but on Brian Mullan's nominated goal, Mullan was about two yards offside.
Did I say "gonorrhea?" What I mean to say was "accute gingivitis, crabs, rapid male pattern baldness, and a nasty case of the squirts".
Man, why you gotta bring the hate? I would think that you'd be in a great mood after your "let's name the score" victory over the Goats.
This will help you with your bowel-related issues. Just be sure to relax later on. Don't force it or you'll blow our your O-ring.
When they showed that amazing goal by Thiago on TV at halftime during the Chivas match, they left out the five-second sequence just prior to the shot. It made the goal look a bit less amazing. I agree that Thiago's shot belongs in the top 5 and is likely one of the best shots I've seen ever.
Sent a note to MLSnet too, this is one MLS would want to use for more than GOTW/GOTY. It's right there with the best MLS goals I've ever seen, they should have it for commercials and highlight videos.
Technically speaking I might be able to pull it from the telecast archives (vs. Chivas halftime), but I'm not sure, and if I could, it doesn't really do it justice.
Tried for the last hour. Manged to screen capture it, but it's way too choppy and I can't get it quite right.
If anybody still has it on their (Comcast) DVR (and lives in the city), I can stop by with my PC and pull it off of there in a matter of minutes, then convert to mpg.
