I can't believe they did not show the OT of the Metros/Crew game because of time restraints. How idiotic is that!! Cut 10 Minutes off of MLS Wrap if there are such big time restraints.
A tape delayed game with a long-ass haltime show including 6 MLS commercials - the game shuts down at 10:53 - and they don't show OT. You can't tell me that MLS Wrap could not have been shortened 5 minutes or so. After having sat through that crap of a game. they knowingly foce us to miss maybe the goal of the year. Very dissapointing.
Be reaslisitic about it. The game was total, utter, unadulterated crap. I honestly can't remember seeing a crappier MLS game this year. Did you really want to watch 10 more minutes of that poo? I didn't. I'd rather watch 6 or 7 replays of that incredible goal than 10 minutes of pinball on a carpet to the sounds of the god-awful horns. Why would anybody want to watch more of that game? It was unbearable. It had one highlight -- the goal. We saw the goal. We don't need to see the 10 minutes preceeding it -- I can assure you, they were crap as well.
Well, I can think of three Fire games in which THEY played like crap that I'd just as soon forget, one of them being yesterday... but: I didn't know this game ended like this. I gave up on this dog around the 60th minute and went to bed. Had I made it the full 90... I probably would've thanked them for sparing me.
YOU could have turned it off in the 10th minute since you obviously had so many issues with the quality of play. Most TV stations (like espn2, espn and abc) have a policy not to go away from a live event until it is over. FSW should adopt that same policy. Someone in this thread had it right. Broadcast starts at 10 PM. Show the kickoff at 10:03, rather than the usual 10:06 or whatever it is for live MLS matches. Condense halftime to 2-3 commercials on either side of the halftime report. Total time could be easily less than 8 minutes. After regulation, maybe show 1-2 ads, then go into OT. They could have EASILY been done with 100 minutes of soccer by midnight.
MLS Since the main advertiser for the game was (my guess here due to the number of times I learned that MLS is a mix of styles and people from all over the world) MLS, who could they offend by cutting down on the commercials? Personally, I am so sick of the New Soccer Nation commercial that I cringe when it airs. The best advertisement for the league would've been to reward those of us who stuck around with seeing the goal from the run of play. Much better than five extra airings of the commercial. I was disappointed.
