Matchday 8-Tottenham Hostpur FC vs. Everton FC [R]

Wow.

I cannot believe how well we did against a good side who looked like they were just hitting top form before this game. We may have a great record against them at the Lane, but we really blew them away today. Great decision to include Ricketts from the start, the kid never stops running, he's a breath of fresh air in midfield. Things look a bit more positive, I'm glad to see the potential of the club is still evident.

I really don't think we need to rush out for a new manager, take a bit of time and get the best possible man in for the job, no need for a Souness or Toppmoller. Preferably it has to be someone that can work very comfortably with David Pleat who more than deserves to keep his place as Director of Football.

I apologise profusely to Kanoute. I doubted him very strongly when we signed him, but so far he's been exceptional and I quite willingly bow down to him. I suppose you can wonder whether it will last, but judging by his great attitude on and off the pitch (working hard and doing community work with kids on behalf of the club), he looks a real star. KAK is devastating, perfect mix of pace and skill.

 

agreed, pleatys doing a good job. he seems to have tightened up the defense, which is going to relieve some of the pressure of the mids to keep pushing forward for goals.

i don't really like any of the candidates mentioned so far other than oneil. they all just strike me as being very average and will do nothing to improve our midtable status.

still good to see a 3-0 score from the lane that was in our favor. ashame newcastle and leeds managed to win as well.

Good stuff from the spurs today, tidy team that you lot beat.

However, what of Postiga?
Loads of dosh put out on him and your best results-and most goals-are coming when he's not playing.
Is it him, the system-or the opponents?

 

Sounds like an excellent win today! Glad to see Poyet back in the lineup, his creativity has been missing. I'm a Redknapp fan, but he simply cannot generate enough creativity from midfield all by himself. Either Poyet or Dalmat would be needed to help create chances for KaK. But, as I've stated before, I'm not the biggest Dalmat fan. IMHO, he's a complimentary player, not a star. Frankly, I have been quite pleasantly surprised by Ricketts thus far, and we seem to do quite well when he plays, so I'm all for giving him some time on the field.

Kanoute has always been a scorer, his problems are his health and attitude. It seems he has his attitude in great shape and he's doing his utmost to work on the health. At this point he looks like a great acquisition ... but it's a long season and the jury hasn't returned a final verdict yet. I hope he can stay healthy, because he and Keane do look like the answer up top.

With the pressure off Postiga and Zamora, I'm very comfortable with our fearsome foursome finishers. One injury--to any of them--and we're still in great shape. With all four healthy, we should be fine dealing with fixture congestion. Now, should two of them get injured at the same time ... well, then just about any team would have problems.

I'm happy with Pleat's defensive discipline. I must say that I see Konchesky as a left fullback, and that I have not yet seen the game today, but I am curious how he did at left mid (it sounds as though that's where he played, am I wrong?). Oddly enough, Gardner seems to be our rock along the backline thus far. But, I'm very happy to see Richards there directing traffic and keeping shape.

Kudos to the team, Pleaty, Poyet and KaK. This is a crucial win. I expect that Spurs will be in the mix for one of the UEFA spots this year, so our benchmarks need to be Everton, Citeh, Blackburn, Newcastle and Liverpool.

While I do not think highly of Fulham and Birmingham City, our results against them earlier this season do not look quite as bad considering how they've done thus far this year. I still feel badly for Hoddle.

Regarding Posti. With the two Ks fit, they rightly get the nod. But we've now got some serious options up front for the first time in yonks. Posti and Bobby are great options. True, we ain't got the kind of staggering backup fire-power you Chels got, but for us it's a big step forward.

Just got off the phone with one of my mates back home and it's the first time he sounded upbeat since the Leeds game: though no season ticket investment to be made this year, apparently.

A reminder - the Spurs vs Everton game is being shown on delay at 1pm (Pacific) today on the Wupert channel, feast your beadies on our glorious triumph.

Words from Pleaty on BBC Radio London: "They (Spurs) won deservedly. Where the defence at Manchester City was porous -- not today."

He kept harping on about a little man standing on his shoulder reminding him he's only the caretaker of the club.

Anyhoo, good job Pleaty: hold the fort for this season until Born Is The King MON joins us for next term's Lilywhite Champions League campaign push (we can dream).

Amazing how well the London teams, collectively, did today.

Let's hope Chelsea get knobbled, er, I mean -cough- win. Actually, if they do, I get BS EPL Prediction points so either way works for me.

A final note coz I'm off down the pub for lunch and to watch Spurs on TV: Double mate, you need to add "Spurs" as your team. Props for Valencia (beat Real, yay!), but we need THFC on there too mate, especially as your a steward, or whatever it's called.

Big shout to all SPurs on BS. The team that puts the swagger into London football is back ! I know I know too premature so I'll think I'll just shut up and let a few more wins roll by before I get mouthy.

Kanoutes goal was a f'kin BLINDER ! It was ironic right, cos it was reminisent of a goal Ghod scored against Nottinham Forest way back when (long punt upfeild by keeper headed on and hit on the volley - only Kanoute hit his on the half volley). Either way it was a fitting way to remind us of that Hods spirit will always live on at WHL..

Anyway I dont wanna start rambling.....

Besides, living on this side of "the pond" these days, it's just not the same, if you know what i mean.

 

While not as enthusiastic of this result as all you guys seem to be...you played great, and made us look like a Conference side yesterday.

Was able to watch this match on my new satellite system...thanks for ruining my Saturday

I have to apoligize for arguing stupidly that Gardner was right-footed. He is obviusly a lefty, I don't know who I confused him with.
