The terrorists are now non-discriminating between Muslims and non-Muslims. They may have opened up a Pandora's box they didn't want to open. When it was Americans or Jews or other non-Muslims, some Muslims might've looked the other way. But, this hits close to home and it'll be interesting to see the reaction.

    It happened before...
It happened in Morroco with those terror attacks and yet, the muslims did peanuts to help out..they just watched and amazed!

Yes, it's hard to understand the butchery logic behind this terrorist attack.
I mean in other cases the butchers had some logics behind their attacks here I can't find any.

It reminds me of a certain type of irrational italian terrorism (ie bomb at the railway station - bologna 1980 or the Italicus express train - the so called strategy of tension).

It was also an announced strike, all the embassies were in state of alert since 2 days ago.

Anyway let's wait for more news and let's hope the 2 death toll is the correct death toll.

What is so hard to understand? Maybe the problem is you think everything is related to Israel or America without realizing that moderate Moslems can also be a target. You never considered that angle with regards to the Haifa bombing of a Jewish-Arab owned restaurant with Jewish & Arab customers.

Could be, could be. I don't deny any answer.
Let's wait for some more news.

p.s. Leave out israel. I should be the obsessed.

btw in a ideological warfare where some fundamentalist terrorist organization needs to win moderate muslims' approval what's the logics behind targeting moderate muslims?
There's no doubt Osama and friends are dangerous fundamentalists but by being behind this attack they look also masochists.
I can't see any strategical goal.

Just wondering, let's wait more detailed news. Surely some kind of claim (explanation) would help.

These psychos think moderate Muslims are also the enemy. They have declared war on the whole human race and they think they will win because God is on their side.

I suppose "Let's go murder as many innocent people as we can, including a 10-year-old American girl, for no real reason" is a strategic goal.

you are misunderstanding him - he's not saying he agrees with the motive, he's just saying it makes sense from the terrorists' demented POV... as opposed to killing their own people

give me a break!! he used language like "butchery logic", "irrational" and "terrorism" - are you seriously suggesting that he advocated the attack?

    Ben, Ben.

I am the only one who thinks that "targeting the moderate muslims" is a weird highly counterproductive strategy if you want to gain (or keep) consent in the muslim world?

    The explanations could be many.

For example, they wanted to strike somewhere else but they've been intercepted there.

    or

The beautiful royal family who demonstrated their saintness in the involving of part of them in 9-11 and generally al qaeda made a bombing propaganda against al qaeda.

    And others...

I don't think "They have declared war on the whole human race" is a good hypothesis.

Osama and all al qaeda could die tomorrow, I won't cry.

Forgive my suspicious rationality, i lived the italian "strategy of tension".
And this doesn't mean I was a red brigades supporter.
Googlesearch "strategy of tension" and "italy". if you don't know what it is.

Do you think Alex misunderstood you? I'll let Alex speak for himself, but I assume he understands your POV perfectly well and gets annoyed from time to time.

No. It makes perfect sense that they're outraged at Moslems drinking alcohol and running around in bikinis in Saudi Arabia. Like the Arab diners in Haifa, these people are expendable. The larger goal is to destabilize the Saudi govt.

while this is certainly a reasonable explanation for the motives, it can hardly be considered productive strategy for gaining/keeping consent in the muslim world

Oh they do that. No opposition really exists to the greedy Arafat, who steals money from his own people and supporters.

You don't think 'they have declared war on the whole human race' is a good hypothesis, but you are accusing the royal family of planning the bombings, or you are saying it is a case of mistaken identity?

Well, I can understand it from you. How weak can you go in your condemnation of Al Qaeda? 'Osama and all al qaeda could die tomorrow, I won't cry'. That is weak.

The fact is, they have declared war on the human race.

    1) They hate Jews
    2) They hate Christians
    3) They hate secular humanists. (ane yes, this even includes you liberals and socialists and Bush-haters)
    4) They hate moderate muslims.

The logical reason why they killed these Arabs (who I presume were Muslims) is that these are people who live freely, men and women, without adhering to the extreme laws of the perverted Islam that Al Qaida champions. These poor foreign Arab workers probably drink, have sex, do things that normal people do. And in the fundamentalist close minded view of the Al qaeda terrorists, that is offensive to Islam and these people are not worthy of living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the center of Islam. That is why they bombed them.

Now you may say it is a bad hypothesis, but I think it is better than your ridiculous guesses.

Also, some of the extreme liberals have to realize that this is what we are fighting against. It may fit your neat little paradigm to believe that the terrorists are created by the United States and President Bush in particular because of their evil actions, but it is not true. These people are motivated by extreme religious fervor and they hate everybody. Even Muslim Arabs who are not as extreme as they are.

And actions taken by religious fanatics are not meant to make political or strategical sense. Quit trying to look for it.

In absence of some sort of al qaeda message denying they are behind that attack I think they're much probably the authors.

And the more plausible explanation is that Osama and his fundamentalist friends want to create the chaos and put the basis to overthrow the saudi monarchy.
As many arab analysts read it.

And yes, I expect anything from the marvellous saudi royal family (as from Al qaeda).

You know it's a hard world, no heroes of Good at sight (with the exception of we the enlightened selfless liberals).
