Another Wednesday game, this time out in Salt Lake at 8 PM. We've been out to Salt Lake once this season, getting knocked out of the US Open Cup. Hopefully we can reverse this result this time. Salt Lake plays today (Sunday) against Chivas, so will be on one less day of rest. Course we were on one less day of rest last Wednesday against Chicago.
If we don't get three points from this game we are in a lot of trouble. By my count we need 40-42 points to make the playoffs. Getting none in Salt Lake will not do us any good because we have a tough schedule from here on out.
Playoffs The re-rack isn't looking good, except that LA continues to lose and might be dead by the time they get any rest time to recover. The numbers: League place) Team GP Pts - Current run 5) Dallas Burn 21 36 - 1 loss in 7 6) New York 22 33 - 2 losses both away, but 3 of 4 wins at home 7) Kansas City 22 32 - 1-3-0 8) Colorado 21 27 - 3 wins 9) Columbus 22 27 - 1 win in 6 games, point @HOU last game 10) Chicago 21 26 - 10 points of last 15. KC Schedule @RSL - KC lost earlier this year in the USOC. Adu, Kreis, and Klein are gone. Easiest game on slate remaining. @HOU - KC on short rest, HOU unbeaten in 8 at home CLB - KC has 2 weeks to prepare and has been middlilng to poor after every other off week during this season. CLB will be fighting for their playoff life, as will KC. @CHV - CHV is the 2nd hottest team in MLS and hasn't lost at home all year. Toughest game on slate remaining, IMO. LA - Thursday night E2 game. LA will not be the shell of a soccer team that barely showed up in Denver tonight. LA will have full rest for weeks before coming in. It will be a must win for KC in the chase for a playoff spot. KC would be very fortunate if LA was already eliminated. This will be a tough 3 for KC. DC - DC has won 5 straight and is the hottest team in MLS. Last home game for KC. I hate the black and white. @NY - 1 loss in 5 home games. @DAL - Unbeaten in 6 at home. It's simple. KC loses in Utah and KC will end up out. A draw would be horrible, but not fatal. The other big game for KC to watch next week is COL at CLMB. Essentially, it's a playoff game to see who fights with KC and CHI and who dies. A draw gives KC additional margin and new life. KC's lone advantage in schedule is just that CHI has a very tough string in their remaining 9.
Re: Playoffs They won't have full rest for weeks coming in to that game, from their game on the 13th against Chivas, they play 3 days later(home to Houston), 3 days later (@ RSL), 4 days later(home to FCD), 4 days later (in KC), and then play in Columbus 3 days after they play us, that doesn't sound like full rest to me. While in that same time frame, we play Columbus at home on the 15th, @ Chivas on the 22nd, and then play LA on the 27th. Your stats for the NY & FCD game could also be off, especially if either or both have clinched playoff spots, they could rest key players in preparations for the playoffs.
We somehow need to find a way to score early in this one....get them reeling from the get-go. Oh by the way, in case it hasn't been mentioned yet, I believe Davy has to miss this game due to yellow card accumulation.
Re: Playoffs Columbus's last three games: home to Dallas, two road games at NE and at DC. Yikers. Dallas could well play a big role in who the fourth seed and possibly fifth team in the East is going to be. In the last 6 weeks of the season, they have games against all of the Eastern teams except NY.
So he could watch video on it? That's nice of you. EJ has proven to be our most consistent finisher, by far, period. We've got 9 Helen Kellers and one Marlee Matlin.
I would correct that to 4 Mary Ingalls in the backline: So to recap that's 5 Helen Kellers, 4 Mary Ingalls, 1 Marlee Matlin, and a Punker in goal.
mods can one of you correct my first post. When I looked at the schedule I assumed the time was Eastern but it's Central, the game's at 8 KC time.
Since his fast start EJ's first touch has been dreadful, his dribble has been dreadful, and his finishing non-existent. As far as his "speed" advantage, I sure haven't seen much evidence of it recently.
It's not going to get any better without Davy either. The only good thing about not having Davy is that I am glad he is missing the RSL game rather than the Houston game.
It looked to me that Metro Sports will not be broadcasting this game on channel 30. Will it be on channel 5?
I think it will be on TWC 5 due to the Royals being on 30 and the spanish broadcast will be on TWC 20.
I think the email is wrong. On my DVR it has the Royals on Metrosports. Which means the Wizards will be on Time Warner Channel 5. The listing for the game is not on the DVR menu yet for TWC 5, but I assume it will pop up sometime tommorow.
