    i hate all current rappers

it's all crap now. there isn't much good rap, it all pretty much blows.

tribe called quest, dela, the roots, lons, the jungle brothers, wutang, they used to pump out awesome stuff. the current regime of crap blows.

and bow wow is just annoying. perhaps not dead, but deffinently a career that doesn't involve anyone seeing or hearing him.

are you saying all current rap are too commercialized, all the rappers are no different from the boy bands, except they rap??

I guess I can agree to that, but I don't know how you can leave out Jay-Z if that's what you think.

Stogey23 hates rap...he never lets me listen to it in the car...ever. He does like Jay-Z though, I think.
I love R&B and rap...but if I had to pick one, it would be Trick Daddy, he is just nasty...

Don't tell me you hate Mos Def, Beanie Sigel, Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli, Common, Xzibit, J Rawls, Cam-ron, Dead Prez, Ghostface, MOP, Prodigy, Outkast, Etc. You hate ALL current rappers? Don't you think you're being a little too extreme?

yeah, a lot of today's rap is commercial nonsense, but there's a lot of good stuff too.

oh yeah, Trick daddy would have to be mine also.

What I was going to say. You can add Black Thought, Del The Funky Homosapien, Kool Keith, El-P and J-Live to the list - though I'm not sure Camron belongs.

It bugs me when people who claim to follow music but make judgements based on what they see on the Top 40 charts or hear on Clearchannel-controlled radio. Good music isn't that hard to find.

Even in mainstream hip hop, there are decent rappers. Eminem doesn't get nearly enough credit he deserves for his flow, rhymes and lyrics because a) he's white and b) is known more as a media personality than as a rapper. I know I'll get flamed for this too, but Jay-Z is one of the most gifted rappers out right now, though he tends to dumb down his delivery and rhymes for the masses.

Sure, most of what you hear on Clearchannel or see on MTV is crap. But that's no reason to wish death upon someone you've never met.

Easily Mystikal, maybe Ja Rule. He wouldn't be half as annoying if he was just an actor or something, but his music friggin' sucks.

Fine. I don't wish death on Mystikal.

If he dies, then he won't be able to go to prison and be raped everyday....I'd hate to spoil that.

I think we can also add Nas, Aesop Rock, The Hieroglyphics, DMX, Scarface, Dilated peoples, Cocoa Brovaz, and N.E.R.D. That's just off the top of my head.

I think Cam'ron belongs on the strength of his first two albums. SDE is one of the best rap cds I own. Now that he joined Rockafella though, his music has been dumbed down thanks to Jay-Z's business influence. Even though his music is more commercial now, he's still very good, IMO.

I agree about Eminem, he is truly a great rapper, no doubt about that. While most rap fans realize that, people that don't follow rap still think that making fun of a white rapper is fashionable.

Skip, what do you think of NORE? I love his music, commercial or not.
