I downloaded mozilla for security reasons and selected it has my default web browser. Unfortunately, Mozilla cannot find certain citrix clients I need to perform my job duties at work (allstate). I subsequently removed the program from my pc but now when I select a pre-existing IE links it informs me I do not have mozilla and the request cannot be performed. I figured once I uninstalled the program all would be fine. Wrong! What can I do to eliminate this problem? Any help from your computer gurus would be helpful. Many thanks.
First, I'll bet dollars to donuts that there was no "problem" with Firefox - just that it wasn't configured correctly. That said, are you sure IE is set as the default browser? I bet not. Start IE, and select Tools > Internet Options. Find the checkbox labeled "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser." Make sure it is checked. Click OK, close IE, and then start IE again. If/when it asks if it should be the default browser, select "yes". You *should* be straight then, if my guess as to your problem is correct.
IE is not set as my default browser, but the next chance I get I will see if changing it to my default will remedy the problem. As far as firefox, I can't begin to explain why it is not working correctly...everything appears to be fine save the citrix ICA web client. firefox cannot find it for some reason. I prefer firefox, I just need it to be reliable in order for me to continue using it.
Well, I'm not familiar with the Citrix client - it might be an ActiveX control, for example, which might be the problem. FireFox cannot run ActiveX controls. It's rare that I have to do it, but you *can* have FireFox be your default browser, and whenever you need to access a site that doesn't work in FireFox (like, for example, the Windows Update site) you can fire up IE and do your thing. That's what I do.
Come to find out citrix is not compatible with firefox. bummer. As for IE and my problems opening up preexisting shortcuts on my desktop, i reset my web settings and everything is flex. Thanks for your help. I guess I know whom to turn to in the future if I have a problem, foosinho!
