I don´t know if this has been discussed before, but I would like to know your biggest moment of joy or pain caused by a football incident. The moment you celebrated or saddened you the most , at the time , even if it proved to be not as good or as bad as you thought in the future. For me :

1- Miguel Garcia´s goal in Alkmaar this season. It was something unbelievable that I thought could never happen to Sporting. Last second with the opportunity of playing a european final in your home stadium. It will never be repeated in my lifetime.Even though we did lose that final , that instant moment is unforgetable. If I had a heart condition I think I would be dead right now.

2- Ricardo´s penalty against England in Euro 2004. Incredible joy after a very emotionally draining game.

3- Duscher´s third goal at Salgueiros for Sporting in 2000 with 5 minutes left which virtually mean´t Sporting were Champions 18 years later.

4- A goal by a player called Mario in Extra Time with about 2 or 3 minutes left, in a Portuguese Cup semi final replay game against Porto in Porto. Sporting were huge underdogs, this was in 86 or 87 around the time Porto won their first European Cup, and I remember we were totally dominated,Porto had 2 or 3 shots that hit the woodwork , and then Mario scored a wonderful 30 yard shot right in the upper right corner. It was wild.I also remember we still played 6 or 7 minutes of injury time that were unjustified and nerve wrecking. There was no public indication of injury time in those days so the referee did what he wanted. Also at the end of the game the Porto supporters group came after us with fists and sticks and we had to run out of the Stadium.I was lucky because I was only 13 or 14 and nobody tried to hit me, others weren´t so lucky, I remember we had to hide in a little coffee shop.It was pretty scary, but the moment of the goal will stay with me always, even though Sporting would lose that final against Benfica.

    Among the worst :

1- Greece´s goal in the European Championship final. Even though there was a long time to go , it looked inevitable we were going to lose when that ball crossed the line.

2- Moscow´s third goal in the Uefa cup final. It was more shocking than sad because we had just missed a glorious chance on the other end 10 seconds prior and that was game, set and match for the russians.A sad end to a wonderful campaign.

3- A goal by a player called Roberto from Barcelona in Alvalade in the Uefa Cup in the mid to late 80´s. Sporting had lost 1-0 in the Nou Camp and were leading 2-0 at home and playing very well when suddenly with 10 minutes left Roberto scored out of nowhere, and Sporting were eliminated. This goal hurt me more because I had followed the team to Barcelona. I remember my brother , who is even a more fanatical Sporting supporter , had left the game because he couldn´t stand the nerves. It was the only time I cried tears of sadness in a football game.

4- Sabry´s goal in Alvalade for Benfica in the penultimate round of the championship in 2000. Sporting needed to win to clinch the Title after 18 years and that goal totally deflated us with 2 or 3 minutes to go.It was a game in Benfica simply didn´t attack, but Sporting couldn't create any chances. That late goal mean´t we had to win in the final round away from home against a team fighting for survival ( Salgueiros) which didn´t look easy.It was a very depressing night.Happily everything turned alright and we became champions.

Please share your moments for Club or Country. Thanks.

Madjer's goal against Bayern Munich in our 1st European Club Championship is perhaps my fondest club goal ever! 2nd place: Juary's goal off a feed from ... Madjer!

NT goal: Rui Costa's goal against England is up there because of all the excitement, i.e. extra-time and would give us open road to the Semi-Finals of the Euro 2004.

Club Negative: Cup of Cups between Porto and Juventus. Both goals should have never happened. They were tough to swallow even though it was FC Porto's first European Final.

NT negative: heck, could it be any other than the goal from Greece in the Euro 2004 Final???!!

Yeah Rui Costa's goal was amazing...of all the amazing goals Portugal scored ...Maniche's rocket against the Dutch, Ricardo's penalty goal, and Nuno Gomes' against the Spanish, Rui Costa's goal was the most exciting. Just the look on Sven Gorran Erikkson's face was worth it.

With Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco, Figo, Rui Costa, Maniche, - Portugal has never fielded a better team.

I can add the 4 goals by Eusebio in the WC 66 when we were down 0-3.

one of the worse loses was the way Benfica lost the European CL against Inter, with 10 men with Costa Pereira out with a injured in goal, with no subs allowed, central defender Germano did a excellent job and we lost 1-0, on top of it we lost the final on their own stadium.

I will start with the semifinals of Euro 2000 Gomes goal against France...at the time I thought it was our destiny...that was by far the toughest team we have ever played and we went toe to toe with them only losing on a controversial golden goal....

Gomes goal against Spain EURO 2004 group stage...I was at Alvalade and I almost lost my voice as I was light-headed from yelling...

Costinha Goal against Romania Euro 2000...I was watching the game at Tio Pepe in Newark and it was SRO and I went nuts...

This moment is not a goal but a different moment...signing "A Portuguesa" at the Dragao prior to the start of EURO 2004 game against Greece...watching the NT game play in Portugal during the second biggest soccer tournament with my dad...almost brought tears to my eyes..:p

costinhas winner vs the mancs and watching mourinho jump out of his seat and celebrating.

decos goal in the Cl final, it just felt right that we would win with a deco goal sealing it.

gnomes vs spain, really didn't want to go out at the group stages as hosts.

    oya my moments

Joy-Simao's header against Porto in the Taca 2 season's ago to bring Benfica their first Taca in about 11 season's.Made me cry when i saw the celebrations and that we had won the Taca,my Dad cried to it was just a great sight to see that we had won in so long.

Luisao's goal against Sporting in the second last game of the season. The reason why i was so happy with this is that it basicaly secured Benfica in winning the League for the first time in 11 season's

Nuno Gomes' goal against Spain in Euro 04 last summer, wow did i ever jump up in joy with my Dad watching that game.It was SWEET that we got into the knock out phase and it was even sweeter that we beat our neighbours our rivals made it so much better to see that we actualy got to the knock out round

Nuno Gomes' goal against Turkey during Euro 00.I still remember this goal and WOW was it ever beautiful i just loved it i loved this header i was about 11-12 at the time and i can still remember it,i was just so proud that we beat Turkey

Rui Costa's goal against England during Euro 04,i just absolutly loved this amazing goal, with all of the country on our shoulders during this game we needed a win big time and he helped us big time with this goal.

Ricardo's PK during England Euro 04.I just have to mention this one, this was the winning PK against England to give us a birth into the next round it was just amazing when Ricardo took off the gloves to save the previous PK then win the game for us afterwards.
