I'm in need of some help if at all possible...

The World Cup will be my first trip to Europe and i was wondering if anyone could offer some guidance on:

    1) to where should i fly into (that is, which country/airport is the least expensive alternative)???... i'm coming from Cleveland...

    2) we have tickets for all the U.S. games plus some others... what are the least expensive accomodations that people have found???

I would appreciate any help anyone could provide...

    Thank you.

If you're going for more than a couple weeks, you might want to look at an apartment as a home base....

I rented a 2 BR apt in Flieden from June 11th to July 6th for $745 through http://vacationvillas.net/....they have a very good search feature to find what you're looking for.....

I've found the further you get away from cities(public transport) the cheaper the rates...For instance my place in Flieden is 2.5km away from the nearest train station, and that one doesn't run all night...Thus, I'm also renting a car for the entire stay in addition to getting the WM Pass(unlimited train travel) valid for the entire WC....

Good Luck! See you in Germany!!

If you're flying into Germany, check out flights into Frankfurt (FRA) or Munchen(MUC). Amsterdam is also a reasonable entry point. Prices have gone up. Since I didn't get tickets and have 2 in college, I decided I need to stay home and keep working. :( When I priced tickets (travelocity, priceline, yahoo, and several others), six months ago I was getting about $1000/ticket from Des Moines. It's now $1385. I doubt it will get cheaper. Good luck. You can also save airflight money if you leave in May - but that increases your total expense and time away (Good but expensive).

For a small fee (tickets to a U.S. game), I am more than willing to be your travel agent.
