Article is in Spanish, but basically states that FCB is looking into the feasibility of starting a team along the lines of Chivas USA in the US. It also states that they are also just considering soccer academies in North/South America and Asia.

Would be an interesting development of MLS if the G14 started investing in MLS as a defacto feeder league.

Financial support would be large and the farm team concept is intrigiung from their point of view, the long term implications for MLS could be to accept that the cream of the crop will always end up playing in Europe.

I don't know how much Ronaldo, Becks, Figo, etc. make but until/unless MLS is about to pay those type salaries to a guy like Landon Donovan, the cream of the crop WILL go to Europe. Not too much to be ashamed about because their leagues have been around for hundreds of years. I think MLS should aim to keep increasing salaries so they can keep from losing all of the marquee players.

On a side note, if Landon Donovan returns to MLS somehow he deserves the $500k Freddy Adu is getting

Can somebody help me out with this: Are there any articles or discussions on the nature of the relationship between Real Madrid and Salt Lake? TIA.

I ReALly haven't heard anything since the name announcement. MLSNet.com hasn't really had the Newsstand since the playoffs began. Hopefully that changes soon since some of us want to know more about the expansion draft.

You haven't heard about ReAL and Real Madrid because it doesn't exist. It's just in Checkett's mind and the marketing department. The only place those two teams will have some kind of a relationship is on...

I'm still really annoyed that Salt Lake chose that for their name.

I don't mind the name as much as I do the 13-year-old kid in an AOL chat room spelling of ReAL.
