Damn I learn something new everyday. First time I have ever read that the Basques had their own country, I always knew that media was hiding little known facts from us readers!

Any word on who the other regions of Spain are playing today (if any)? I have been unable to find out who the Catalans, Galicians etc. are playing this year.

Good luck to the Basques, please post the find score with Cameroon and/or a summary of the game/link if possible. Thanks.

    Euskadi lost to Cameroon 0-1.

It appears the night was a great sucess despite the negative result.

    EUSKADI-CAMEROON

The result couldn't top the party of Basque players

    2005/12/29

The result and bad weather didn't spoil a celebration night at the lively, crowded stadium of San Mames in Bilbao.

Basque soccer lived a magic night in which the regional team demanded its own national team.

On this occasion, the rival was the strong Cameroon, and the Basques couldn't beat the fit and blunt team.

Our team showed its strength in the first half pushed by an audience that encouraged them. Nevertheless, the Africans had very powerful forwards that unveiled their skills.

Cameroon led the match even although Basque Cesar Krutxaga scored the only goal of the night in his team's own net.

In the second half the Basque team underwent many changes, but Cameroon waited for the Basques without shooting at goal. The Basque team tried hard but couldn't defeat the African defence.

Thanks for posting the result and match story. I always look forward to this time of year when the Spanish regions play separately as i find the politics that goes with it extremely interesting.

A few of the regional teams are playing China while they tour Spain - Andalucia beat them 4-1, and Navarra beat them 1-0.
