I am not Twelman's biggest fan and I do like when they have former players who have played in competitions comentating.

That said, it is a business and Champions and Twellman call MLS on ESPN games a lot. They have a rapport and ESPN wants people to be used to listening to them for more than just a summer.

I don’t get what the point of Bundesliga whiparound is if they are staying with the game that is irrelevant in the standings. They moved between the games in the fist half but staying with the same game in the second half with plenty of goals scored elsewhere.

Pretty cool Trivia answer for the future.

What was ESPN's last Serie A match on Cable Television????

The prestigious Torino v Benevento thriller.

This may have been asked before, but is there a mls review show that shows ALL the goals. Last time I can think of something was when John Harkes and Sean Wheelock hosted something on Fox sports world. It was called MLS wrap I think. I know there was something on ESPN plus last year

Isn't there some sort of streaming video podcast thing on the MLS website?

Every Monday, ESPN+ has the MLS Review Show which shows all of the goals. It looks like it's produced for international distribution since it's all English voices doing the commentary on featured matches.

Yes indeed. Also on YouTube for free so you don't even need to pay for ESPN+ to watch it. I don't like it because they tend to rush through most of the Highlights

I knew the original billing of ESPN+ airing all of the Euro matches was to be too good to be true.

The ESPN+ offering will have three feeds: a tactical cam and two iso cams on players/managers. Apparently the match commentary will be available on these feeds.

But, crucially, the "normal" feed will only be on the cable channels.

I may stick with PrendeTV or get the $10 promo from Sling or Vidgo.

I'm curious, if someone without cable, satellite or anything wanted to watch all the Euro games, would they be able to for only $5.99 (by buying one month of espn+ the day before the Euros started)??

On the espn+ schedule it shows all the games but as "multi view". Not sure what that is but sounds something that is sub-optimal and different to their "multicast". And also all the games are listed if you filter just for the regular ESPN and ABC networks. :coffee:

My understanding is that the ESPN+ match feeds will have Isolation cams on a couple of players and an overhead tactical cam. There will be like three different feeds. I think they will have the "normal" match commentary.

The streaming services Sling and Vidgo both have a $10 for the first month deal that will get you ESPN. My understanding is that you can also use your Sling/Vidgo credentials to log into the ESPN app on Roku, etc. and watch the normal ESPN feed through the ESPN app.

I'm probably going to try the Vidgo deal since it includes Fox (for the Copa America).

Univision's PrendeTV app is going to play all of the matches in Spanish that aren't over-the-air (those OTA ones will be on Univision or UniMas). PrendeTV is free.

Many thanks! Very useful. Its a shame everything is so splintered these days.

So assume these 2 services you highlight would also have the games that are on the main ABC network?

I believe that at the very least you will be able to log into the ESPN app with your Sling or Vidgo credentials and watch the ABC matches live and on-demand.

I get ABC over the air and have a OTA DVR so I normally record/watch matches on ABC that way.

I think it is crazy that they aren't putting the final on ABC.

I'm intentionally not planning to watch the Euros (I spend so much time watching EPL & UEFA during the reg.season I need a breather, and I don't get that 100% because of MLS)

BUT... I will keep my ears open to what's happening in Euros and if there's a particularly great matchup I might catch it either in replay or highlights.

So I guess my question is: Are there any good Euros recap/highlights shows either on one of the ESPN TV channels or on ESPN+ that I should try to watch daily or occasionally?

Ordinarily games shown on ABC are available online on ESPN3, so even those that don't have cable or satellite or a streaming service can usually watch if they have a participating internet provider. Most internet providers provide access to ESPN3 even if you don't have a TV subscription. For instance I have TV with DirecTV and internet only from Comcast, but if I log in to ESPN using my comcast credentials, I can watch ESPN3 content (but not any other ESPN content). (My experience with ABC content being shown as ESPN3 content is based on NBA games on ABC.)

After the final match of each match day EURO Tonight will be a show that analyzes each match.

Now how much of it will be banter and how much of it will be real analysis and highlights is up to your tolerance and preference but you can always skip forward the cheezy stuff on DVR.

Does anyone know if full replays will be available on ESPN+ after the games conclude?

    That is a good Question.

My guess is that it will be available soon after on the ESPN app signed into a provider.
For ESPN+ though it will be interesting to see what they decide.
Maybe they do it next day.

I watched the regular ESPN broadcast live today, but out of curiosity I've just replayed the game on the ESPN+ feed. The isolation cams are on the left-hand side of the screen. Today, they were on the two managers the whole time. Nothing to rave about here.

The tactical cam on the other hand is great--it takes up about a third of the screen and it's the same view you would get being in the upper-level bowl at the stadium behind one of the goals (for today's game, Italian goal in the first half, Turkish in the second). That is my favorite spot to watch a game in person. You really see the tactical positioning of both teams and it gives you an appreciation for all the action, especially everything that happens away from the ball.

On a big enough screen, this is a totally acceptable alternative to the regular feed to watch a game live, especially since you get same commentary and you have the score and clock graphic in the upper left corner.

I have ESPN and ESPN2 as part of my cable package, but if only had an ESPN+ subscription and were on a limited budget, I would be ok watching the whole tournament like this--or at least I'd give it a try for the first 3-4 days... Maybe it would get annoying after a while.

In any case, well done ESPN!

There's no Euro thread so I will post this here.

If you guys want alternative coverage of the tournament Talk Sport radio is broadcasting the games on the tunein app and smart speakers.
I am able to pause my Dish Hopper DVR and synchronize the audio with the video quite nicely.

My god these ESPN announcers on Wales-Switzerland are so horrible. First of all, Cangialosi has to give the recent history of every player who touches the ball or coach the video shows, and he's so robotic about it that he doesn't even notice what his color guy Moreno is saying, repeating that Shaqiri only had 7 starts for Liverpool and 1 goal right after Moreno said it. He sounds like someone trying to impress how hard he studied before the game.

I know some of this stuff was out of their control, but they should've cut to literally anything else other than the closeups of Eriksen. Also, Twellman speculating what happened to Eriksen is equally bad. ESPN coverage of this whole incident today was inexcusable and shameful.

The speculation thing i get.. What I dont get is the heat for showing images of what is happening..

This should get the attention it got, they saved his life(some speculation here as to we don't know what happened to him) right there on the pitch.. people should see what was done and learn...

    Just clarification..

The focus shouldnt be on him.. but if a second worth of a shot just so people see what was going is good IMO.. like whe you can see he is receiving CPR and then cut away quick, people could learn from that..

With them using the global feed and the director always looking for the next shot, there's probably very little ESPN itself could have done.

I ask this: If the director had collapsed and was being surrounded, what would they feel like if someone else was trying to get images for a global audience?
