    According to Aertel, who say...

Don Givens has been handed a new two-
year contract as manager of the
    Republic of Ireland Under-21s side.

    The former Ireland international
striker took charge of the team in
February 2000, in succession to Ian
    Evans.

The Under-21 team, who have seen an
    improvment in their performances
    recently, will face their Swiss
    counterparts in tomorrow night's final
    European Championship qualifier.

Givens will sign the extension to his
current contract next week, upon his
    return from Switzerland.

    Just one question...

    Why?

Givens is a waste of time as a manager; he brings little to the table.

He doesn't encourage the players, is often, or usually tactically inept and rules more by screaming and blaming his players than by anything else.

Anybody got any better ideas for a replacement? Stapleton? Moran? Packie?

(As to this continuing love-in between Slash and myself, it's in The Book of Revelations as one of the definitive signs of Aramgeddeon, if I remember correctly. Just never thought I'd see it.........)
