Well Dish has changed their PPV package from
last year... they are squeezing football fans out
    of every last dollar...

last year we had the option of 3 packages
    1) Saturday only
    2) Sunday only
    3) Total Package (sat/sun)

    now we are offered..

    1) Monthly package $59.95
    2) Season package $269.95

I dont know if this is dish's doing or fox...
would be nice to have the sat or sun only option
    available...

No. soccertv posted that DirecTV would have the package and Dish wouldn't and INDemand would have Sunday only. I think this where the confustion about availability on Dish came from.

No Fox sports is still distributing to residential areas. However, DirecTV is distributing to commercial establishments this year.

DTV (available for order now by phone) is for Saturday/Sunday package for single game options (I don't know the costs on this because I ordered the full season package).

Cost for the whole season (assuming 31 games on Saturday and 31 games on Sunday) comes to about $4.34 per game

The EPL package is one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive season package in the U.S.

    Consider:

    - it averages about $4 per game for the EPL
    - when DirecTV Para Todos had the la Liga package back in 2000-01, it was $149 for 8 games for about 30 weeks (they offered the package starting in Nov 2000). It's less than $1 per game.
    - when Dish Network offered the Portuguese package for $350 per season ($300 for early birds), for 140-170 games, it amounts to about $2 - $2.50 per game.
    - all NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB season packages cost $129 - $169, for a lot more games; these packages averages < $1 per game.

Is there a chance there is going to be more than one game each day, kind of like MLS Shootout, several games to choose from or is this wishful thinking?

One game per match day, 10 am on Saturday, 11 am on Sunday.

Go to foxsportsworld.com for the games to be shown.

It is indeed very expensive ($100 more than any other package) and for that reason alone I'm kind of surprised they aren't offering a Saturday only or Sunday only package (though DirecTV is offering a single match ppv option - don't know any more about it but it was a choice when I called to order this morning).

Oh well, it's getting me closer to my goal of paying more for satellite TV than I pay on rent ;)

EPL was not the most expensive last year. Last season, the Portugese package cost $350 on Dish Network, while the Benfica package cost ~$2000, for only 17 home games on the SPT platform for RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS!!! Aside from the lunacy of the Benfica package, the EPL package averaged a higher cost per game though because the Portugese package has a lot more games (3-5 games per week for 34 weeks).

However, it's not as if EPL has established a market stronghold in the U.S., like they have in the rest of Europe as well as Asia.

By offering their product $100 more expensive than the #1 sport in this country (NFL Sunday Ticket), they pretty much price out lots of potential fans.

The price doesn't match the popularity of their product in this country at all. Even though EPL is probably one of the most popular, if not the most popular league in the global scale, EPL doesn't mean jack in the American sports landscape. When Man U, the most popular club IN ANY SPORT in the world, signed an agreement with the Yankees on joint promotion, most of the Yankees fans interviewed didn't have a clue what Man U was...

If EPL is smart enough to offer the season package of 2 games per match day for say, $100, I think lots of American/MLS fans would bite. As of now, they are only squeezing money from mostly the expats.

Aren't these games broadcast free on FSW a couple hours later?

No, different matches are. Sometimes, the Saturday PPV game is replayed on the following Wednesday.

They show a different game on Saturday at noon (2 hour tape delay) and usually a different game Sunday on tape delay (can't remember the exact time - also depends on whether there are two Sunday games that week).

I can't remember if they show the weekend games on tape delay later in the week.

I totally agree. If there was a package under $100 (even with only 3-4 games per weekend), I'd bite.

The price for the package is high and its too bad they arent offering a Saturday or a Sunday package. I work every Saturday so now I have to choose whether I really want to buy the entire package and just tape the Saturday games.

On the bright side, at least Dish is making the package available. A few weeks ago I had my doubts as to whether they would offer the package at all. It would be nice if they would include the FA Cup package which they offered last year with the season package. I wont be holding my breath for that to happen!

    Single games available?

Is the Dish offering the option of buying single games, either on Saturdays or Sundays? Or do you have to buy either the monthly or yearly package?

Speaking of single games, looks like the cost has gone up again this year. My cable company (AT&T) only carries the Sunday games, and the Arsenal/Birmingham City match is listed at $15.95, up a buck from last year. It wasn't too long ago that those matches cost less than $10.

Dwink, just called Dish, and here is the setup.

    No individual games.

You can order the monthly package for $59.95 (a side note--if you order this weekend, you get August 17th through the end of September), or the season-long package for $270.

Thanks for the info, Buff. That deserves a big fat D'oh!

I'm taking the Dish plunge, but I won't have it in time for this weekend, so I doubt if I'll get the month-and-a-half early ordering bonus.

DirecTV is offering single games I believe, but you'll have to call them for more info.
