Since there will be a dearth of Grouchy opportunities for a while, let me entertain you with a few trivia questions any realist Crew fan should be able answer easily: 1. The first Crew hat trick was scored by ------. 2. The first Crew bicycle kick was scored by ______. 3. Duncan Oughton's bicycle kick was scored against --------. 4. Name a Crew player who also played for Cal State Dominguez Hills. 5. Name a Crew player who also played for New Orleans. 6. Name a Crew player who also played for Nottingham Forest. 7. Name a Crew player who also played for Ohio State (but not soccer). 8. Name 3 Crew players who were teammates for an NCAA champion. 9. Name 3 Crew players who were teammates for a different NCAA champion. 10. Name a Crew draftee who played 15 MLS seasons. 11. Name a Crew player who scored against Akron in a College Cup game. 12. Name the first Crew home-grown signing. Post answers here. I will be back periodically to acknowledge and give Massive Rep to the first poster correctly answering each question.
I should probably know more, but off the top of my head: 4. Name a Crew player who also played for Cal State Dominguez Hills. ->Kei Kamara 6. Name a Crew player who also played for Nottingham Forest. ->Stern John 7. Name a Crew player who also played for Ohio State (but not soccer). ->Devin Barclay 10. Name a Crew draftee who played 15 MLS seasons. ->Edson Buddle Maybe after a good night's sleep I can come up with more...
Stern John is correct for #5. I should have phrased it "Name a Crew player who was also a Riverboat Gambler." Rochester for #3 is incorrect.
True, but he was just a loan player. John played for Forest after a full-fledged transfer. (Still remember the "Wait, what??? Our top goalscorer is leaving? I guess 'major league' isn't as major as the 2nd tier in England" feeling after I read about the transfer.) Besides, ever since Wynalda revealed (and Sampson corroborated) the "story behind the story" of the 1998 USMNT WC implosion & his managerial stint on the Ohio River, I've tried to expunge that person from my memory.
