Indeed. Benfica reportedly paid 500,000 Euros to Maritimo in the transfer fee.

    Manduca to bolster Benfica attack

    Rapid rise
The 25-year-old will reportedly cost the Portuguese champions €500,000. Manduca first arrived in Portugal in 1998/99 via HJK Helsinki in Finland and has spent the last 18 months at Marítimo after a spell with FC Paços de Ferreira. Manduca has scored five goals in 15 matches this season.

im sure everything you say has merit.

manduca is a good player but you make it seem like he is a steal of the century.

If you compare it to the 2 million Sporting spend on Wender just to send him back to Braga, its not so bad

Here's an honest opinion from a futebol fan.

Benfica would've done better, if they gave the kid Helio Roque more opportunities, and not loan him out. The kid has the potential to be close to the next Rui Costa, but he needs to play at high caliber.

I share your point of view, but he's just a kid, he will have more opportunities next year in Benfica. Teams fighting fot the tittle can't give such a break kids. Too much pressure can make side effects in their carrer as well.

Regarding Manduca, he's a good player, very very talented, but my guess is that playing against defending or 'closed' teams, players like Manduca can
disappear, just like it happens to Nuno Assis. They might be effective in other teams, but playing with the big 3 is another story.
Not a bad deal for Benfica (again...)

This means Simão is out for good, or in January or after WC 06. :(

Mourinho says on today's Record that Manduca is better up front than as a winger.

    Which i agree!!!
