I dont know if anyone is interested in a trip to south africa, but after the USA COsta Rica Game i decided im going to go or die trying. so far i have discovered that this is going to cost me an arm and a leg. and maybe a sack full of diamonds i was wondering if anybody wanted to try to get a group together to try and get osme group discounts. if you are interested hit me up
there wont be enough barra to get a discount, let alone most of them are going to different matches just not US matches I know the us supporters have a package lined up..... Me personally, im going to use miles to get down there (FREE!) then no idea about tickets or hotel yet, still working both.
i dontbelieve so there are still two more rounds maybe three of lottery to go. and i dont think the problem for most people will be getting the tickets its the travel and hotels that will be a pain in the ass and wallet. but then again what do i know im just some rube
I also plan on going. The tickets have not been distributed by the USSF yet I don't believe, unless they forgot to tell me.
you can room with me sorry i cant be your lifemate though..noone can replace him.....except mabye JSF and his umbrella
Seriously, if we have enough people could we rent a house. I have a friend from Engerland who will also be going.
i was actually thinking about that.....rent a house in Jburg and travel for the day elsewhere and back so we dont have to worry bout hotels
The Malatestiano Family is going (we got tix throught the first round lottery...). We could be interested in co-renting a Barra House. Only issue is: why jburg? I am told that it is quite nasty and that, at least on NON Game days, Cape Town is the place to be....
Jburg is more central to get around.....I would rather stay at cape town (surfin!) but its easier to fly or train from jburg to everywhere from what im hearing.... but im down for whatever to keep it cheap
First lottery ticket holder here (with a group of four). We've got tickets through the first knockout round. We haven't made decisions on lodging, so we're looking at any and everything.
In Germany, I rented a 2 bedroom apartment for the month and roomed with 7 of my closest friends (who I hadn't met before!). It's the way to go, for Germany, I was looking for a place near a city and most importantly close to a train station. I was 50 yards from the Cologne local subway and 6 stops from the DB station. Renting a car (or cars) may be the better option in SA. I'm not going to SA - for the simple reason - it costs too much for the flight. Let me know when we start talking about Brazil (2014). I'll be going - I'm already working on a place in Sao Paulo - but I'm intrigued about staying in Rio, as well.
I know a couple of guys in Jburg, I'm crashing with them. From what they've said, good luck finding a place. You're pretty much going to have to find someone renting out rooms in their houses. It sounds like that's the way you're looking to go. Good plan. My problem is tickets to the games. But I honestly don't really care too much about that. If I can get into a game, great, if not, oh well. Just being there will be pretty awesome.
Let me know when you work out that place - we're planning on going as a family and would be up for apartment sharing with someone we know like you =)
I am still planning on going. Have two friends who have also comitted to going. The USSF sent me and email and said they are distributing tickets (to USSC card carrying members first) around December 4th, which is the date of the draw I believe. I would also be very interested in doing a house share, I may be able to get one on the cheap(er) because of some connections I have in SA.
